[ASIAN-ENT] Shaw Bros. vs. Golden Harvest/Independent

I was really never care about Shaw Bros and still am, but I was very interested with Super Inframan and I loved it. It's one of my favorite Toku film ever.

Thanks for the websites man. I will have to check them out and find the movie when I get have more time and get back to the states man.

Image Entertainment already released the film in the U.S. I saw it at FYE the other day, in fact. Good film, but I don't when I plan to buy it.

So yeah, today at FYE, I finally bought Tokyo Shock's release of Challenge of the Masters. Up to this point, I haven't owned the DVD and watched it at home yet. Great flick, though. Any movie about Wong Fei Hung is usually excellent. But Gordon Liu as Wong Fei Hung, now that's classic! I still do love Shaw Bros., no matter how much I seem to hate on them. They just kinda seem overglorified sometimes. No matter how bad, some people just like certain films JUST because it's a Shaw film. That's what I resent, I think.

I know what you mean. There are plenty of Shaw flicks that bore the CRAP out of me...but the ones I like appeal to my tastes.

Challenge of the Masters is a must see movie for ANY aspiring martial artist or even an experienced fighter because of the morals that it teaches...these are teachings that a martial artist should keep close to their fists no matter how experienced or good they are...

I totally agree. Wong Fei Hung, in the film, takes many efforts to save his opponents any uneeded harm. Even down to the last frame, he's trying to keep his opponents from learning a lesson the wrong way. And if you've seen the film, you know what I mean.

The last shot of the film is a great example in humility. Great movie, great choreography, and definitely one of my top 5 favorite Shaw films. Some may be deterred by the lack of action and edge, but I think that's what gives it it's charm. Wouldn't you agree? It's very refreshing. And if you didn't already see, that film made such an impact on me today that I made a new avatar for it  I'd say this film is worthy enough to take the spot of my last one. Very few flicks measure anywhere near Iron Monkey.

Yeah, the Wong Fei Hung that was portrayed in the film is just like the one that the legendary Kwan-Tak-Hing portrayed. Never FINISHING his opponent but helping them see the lighter side of life. That is why all the martial artists I talk to agree and say that it is a MUST see movie for new guys and just a reminder for the veterans.

Nice avatar by the way...LOL!!!!

You're the second member to tell me. Thanks! I made that one, and the last too. I love just makin random ones for the best Kung Fu flicks.
