Having Mal pull out an old fashioned rifle, okay it works in that sense its a Western setting but I don't think they seriously considered all what is needed to make such a fusion of genres work.

Actually Marsters has been dabbling in the music biz for awhile, its just because of his fame from BtVS that anyone heard about it and it so happens that his solo album release coincided with a major con event he was attending. And FYI hes has several guest spots on Smallville, and has a motion picture in the works for release later this year.

He actually played with Four Star Mary once when Buffy was airing. Their the group who Oz 'plays' in.

I think he got kicked out of his own band at one point. And it wasn't a coincidence about his album, everyone knows that. It's one of the funny things that's come out.

Smallvile is a marginal TV show that no one watches and probably should have ended last year. By contrast Aly is doing a major comedy for a real network.

And 'PS I love you' isn't a JM movie. It's a movie where he's way, way down the totem pole. Gina Gershon is arguably as famous or more important then he is.

Well I am sorry that it wasn't up to your standards but Thousands Browncoats thought it was just fine.

What thousands? Five or so? Nobody cared about Serenity. They cared even less when it was wrapped around a BtVS plot.

If you had actually watched the series you'd know that Faith, in fact, didn't die and Buffy did "kill" Angel.

Angelus and Faith were great villains not because of their devious plans, but the way the played the other characters. Each of them took it to the next level where as the Mayor could not, he never had an emotional ties with any of the Scoobies therefore couldn't have the same effect on them as Faith and Angelus. But thats all IMO as I stated before.

If you had actually read and UNDERSTOOD what I wrote, I didn't say Faith died. I said

.... not really. Faith, they 'redeemed' rather then taking her to her logical end and having the character killed off. Ditto with Angelus who really wasn't even that scary. His success was largely because Buffy wouldn't kill him not because he was an effective villain.

They half-assed redeemed her, had her shack up with Wood and the character sucked which is why Eliza passed on Faith the Vampire Slayer.

And she didn't 'kill' Angel since he was right back the next season, huge forehead and angsty as ever.

And the Mayor not having emotional ties to the Scoobies was cool because he didn't need to care. He treated them like pieces of nothing because to him, they were.

Cause that word is so terrible that we dont hear it on the tv or radio ever...

That's a quote from the Mayor right before he begins the Ceremony. He addresses the vampires as such by telling to please watch the swearing. That line, and whole sequence not only defined his character perfectly but established why he was so cool in the first place.

Again, 'PS I love you' is a Hilary Swank movie, made for her more or less.

MS, I couldn't stand Mal's character after watching him for twenty minutes. He's the same cliche, jackass of a hero that Joss loves writing in every series, yet no one actually likes or will root for as a hero/main character type.

only thing that I will agree with him on is that smallville should've ended a while ago, seriously clark's interest in lana is creepy in so many ways. come on the telescope in the barn that lets him watch her from a distance? and she found that charming and not scary?! :redface2:

make him less of an actor.

We're not talking about him being more or less of an actor, we're talking about his career. NB did a Sci-Fi channel original movie recently so he's still acting as well but his career is pretty close to dead if not outright deceased. Much like James's.

Nobody watched Firefly either. That's why it got yanked and there has been attempt at getting it back. The pilot was dreadfullly boring and dull that Fox had to run a different episode for the series premeire and the only reason it got on the air at all was because Gail Berman unwisely axed Dark Angel for it.

Now years later, No remanants from the Whedonverse exist on TV and Jessica Alba's a huge movie star, wise decision on Gail's part.

Last time I checked, the quotation marks I see are the ones I inserted around 'redeemed', as in they tried to but it doesn't really work for that character.

No the only asshole here is Joss. I was and still am a big fan of the characters and many of the concepts he initially developed and expressed. But I absoluetely hate and loathe what he did and all the excuse making and BS defenses made by those trying to shield the man from criticism.
