SEGA Dreamcast Emulation

Looking through all my Dreamcast discs of roms, varying every system from NES, SNES, Gameboy, Gameboy Color etc.. I recall that there is one.. DarcDC, BUT.. It's not exactly playable if I remember right. ( There was some reason why I never burned it to a CD ) Something bout the sound and games loading up rarely etc. A bit a disappointment being I'm kinda big on the Ys games and wanted to play Book 1 and Book 2 again.

If you happened to try the DreamSNES for the DC and remember how the games play around 50-80% of the game's actual speed, that's bout how it happens with this disc too.

There is some hope though, I'd check out Dream Engine, while it does happent o play the speeds better, from like 80% to perfect, it lacks sound. If that bothers you, you may be out of luck unless you look for an emulator for the PC. But if not, then that'll be the best you can get most likely.

The other bad news? It hasn't been updated in a few years, so that's probably going to be the last verison that comes out so we can't really expect it to get any better. :bawling:

But.. It is a good place to start. Hope this helps.

Welll as before.. hehe.. I play the bearer of good news and bad news.

First off, the options are a lot better for what to play, and they actually work quite well might I add.

..The catch is.. the --best-- emulator without a doubt is Magic Engine.. The downside though.. The guy actually expects you to pay money for it.. 16 USD last time I checked.. kinda funny to me really.. but! If you do not mind the... not so nice methods, you can find the hacked one floating around. But, there are also really good other emulators as well.

..Now, when I was really really big into emulation, I hung around emuparadise.org and I know for a fact they released the hacked verison of Magic Engine out when they were releasing some really old and rare titles for the PC Engine, so I'd suggest checking here:

http://www.emuparadise.org/emulators/pce.php

It lists the 3 best ones, and the magic engine posted there --might-- be the hacked one. Can't guarantee it as I have no way of checking.

Hope this helps out!
