Yeah it's an old tool a lot of older fansubbers used. Because mirc would often corrupt a file if it was resumed too many times. But the level of corruption your file had was pretty unusual. I've only seen that when I help out MrBrown. I think he told me it was some hardware issue that would cause that to happen once in a while.

It's definitely a tool worth keeping. Resuming files do not repair these kinds of corruptions. As when trying to resume it just tries to continue from where the file leaves off but if the end of the file is already there it can't really resume.

yeah, my guess is that it was a harddisk glitch or something. Anyway, I'll get a new computer this weekend so hopefully I won't have anymore of these kinds of problems (albeit I'll keep Zidrav, a useful tool!)
