Sazer-X ends in June!

I didn't think it was doing that badly. I found this a couple of weeks back:

aw man poor Ryukendo. I guess that show wont get a second season. Or is that a good rating for a new series.

Wonder why they would axe a series after huge ratings then? :sly:

No, no, TOHO specifically told Asahi Shinbun that there are no plans for a 4th season. :disappoin

Haven't read the Newtype magazines so I can't comment on that (perhaps if someone has a scan of the article in question)

As for Ryuukendoo, I'm not surprised the ratings are low and if it gets cancelled, I don't perceive it as a big loss.

I wouldn't miss Ryukendo either.

Is anyone getting the vibe that 2007 will be a REALLY boring year for Tokusatsu? Cho Sei Shin has been confirmed to be over with, Kamen Rider too, and it wouldn't surprise me if Ultraman were too. If that's the case, all it'll leave us with is whatever the 31st Sentai is, and the rumored Metal Hero series.

No that's...that's pretty bad for any series.

Kamen Rider hasn't been confirmed to be ending at all, and those Metal Hero rumors are just that--rumors. People have been saying that KR would end for Metal Hero to return since like Agito. Ultraman, well that one's hard to guess. The longest string of consecutive Ultraman shows is only five series, we're at three right now. But since it's the 40th anniversary this year, it won't end until at least '07, but I don't doubt will be getting a new series.

As for Sazer X ending so soon, I can't say I didn't see it coming. There's really not much that can be done with the series right now. What I didn't see coming was no 4th series, that blows, the franchise is one of the few that I really like right now. Who knows, maybe it'll turn around at some point and we'll get a 4th series later on. I don't understand why TOHO's ending it though, the ratings for all three series have been pretty good.

Toho has always been willy nilly about making toku tv shows, Toho has since 1972 only produced 9 series that I am aware of. Rainbowman & Zone Fighter in 1973, Diamond Eye in 1974, 1979's Megaloman, Cyber Cops in 88/89, Guyfred in 1996 and the 3 Cho Sei series.

And for the record the ratings for Saxer X have been low compared to the 2 previous series. Episode 29 of Sazer is actually the highest rating the series has recieved.
