S.H.Figuarts - News and Reviews

I'm undecided when it comes to capes on toys.

Like Kane said, they usually don't even look like real capes, let alone look show-accurate. They are often made out of a thinner material, and you can clearly see the stitching when put against such a small figure (where as you probably wouldn't notice that much on a real cape made for a human). The cloth capes never seem to flow just right. And they somehow manage to get stuck in the joints of the toy.

Plastic capes usually have the flowing ruffles molded in; which might be good for display if there were different capes to swap out for different looks or effects, but there is usually just the 1 cape. However, I can look past that, as long the cape is rubbery and bendable. If it's just a hard shell, it's not worth my money. And the whole sectioned cape pieces I've seen in some figures? Good in theory, but when you expose the gaps between the pieces, it really kills the all ready stretched illusion.

Both sides have their pros and cons. I don't think there will ever be an alternative that pleases both sides.

Got my pre-order in for Kamen Rider Kivala. Anime Export waited until after Golden Week to put up the Bandai pre-orders. So her, Darth Maul and the others just went up today. Plus Anime Export doesn't sell out pre-orders as fast as AmiAmi because you have to pay up front.

The cloth/non-cloth cape debate is definitely one worth having. I prefer cloth because I like knowing that any limitation in the articulation of the figure is within itself and I won't use the cape as a scapegoat. It requires some upkeep to prevent damage, but I think it's a little more natural for articulated figures. Statues on the other hand should always have sculpted cloaks and stuff, never cloth. Anyway, that's my two cents. Like SamuraiEchidna said, there's no way to please everyone on the matter without including both options which would never happen

got my drive type speed and he is pretty glorious if a little bare, but love him regardless xD

do have 1 critisism (aside from accessory count). The Max Flare bonus tyre has some extra pieces that peg into the alloy part to fill in the tyre (basically adding in bulk where its been taken away to help it fit against the contours of the body) theres no parts for the type speed tyre, so if using max flare you will have to have 2 orange bits filling in the tyre on the alloy part against the black of the rubber

I got Vader and one of my Storm Troopers today, along with Iron Man MK43. So far I've only opened up the Storm Trooper and I have been having fun messing with it. Everything looks great, but the scale of the Star Wars figures seems a bit larger than other Figuarts toys. They are the same height, but they seem a bit chunkier. I would have liked a holster for the Storm Trooper and better hip articulation, but otherwise I like it a lot.

Do you guys think that Tamashii will reissue MMPR Red/Tyranno Ranger and MMPR Green/Dragon Ranger in 2017 when Lionsgate's MMPR movie comes out? I would imagine that Tamashii and Bluefin would like to cash in on the hype of the movie.

Probably not. If this new movie is not relying on Japanese footage, then they'll probably make their own suits. And they'll probably look as unique as the suits from the MMPR movie. The Figuarts toys would not be screen-accurate.

True, maybe we will get S.H Figuarts based on the suits from the upcoming film. I would imagine the film will be released over there since it's a Hollywood big budget film after all.

Weirder things have happened, I guess. We have Figuarts of Star Wars, Avengers, and lots of other stuff. We still have yet to see the Figuarts line do something specifically for the Power Rangers fandom (and giving the Yellow Ranger a female body does not count), but anything can happen.
