Ah, "The Lawyer Bagon." :anime:
Ryuki was my first Rider series and yeah, I was absolutely in love with the whole thing up to the point of its fugged up ending.
The worst thing you can do to a story is make all their fight add up to nothing. Just undoing everything negates all the effort they put into the fight.
But, ah well... I forgave it. Blade and Kabuto have had the most satisfying ending and even then the endings were... not without question.

Huh? I don't understand why people are always confused by Ryuki's ending. I thought it's clear that the happy ending we see in the end is actually another alternate timeline (just like the movie or 13 Rider) or more appropriately the final timeline. Yui rejected the life which his brother tried to give (and it's not the first time since every Yui from every alternate timeline rejects it every time) and finally he accepted reality that no matter what he does, Yui will never accept the new life. So the Kanzaki siblings use Time Vent to go back in time and this time they perish in the fire, creating a timeline where the rider war stuffs don't exist. It's like giving every rider another chance to live their life without the rider war messing around.
I find it very interesting that it's actually Shinji who f***ed up Kanzaki's plan every timeline. Because of Shinji becoming a rider, every rider was affected and usually ended up ruining Kanzaki's plan. Kanzaki had to reset the time again and again, creating alternate timelines, and tried to avoid making Shinji into a rider. But ironically, Shinji became a rider in every timeline... :laugh:
The only thing unexplained is where the heck the Mirror World comes from?

Whatever the ending was, I really enjoyed watching Shinji. He always put a smile on my face. I also liked how Kitaoka/Zolda liked to tease Reiko

Ryuki's ending is what is known as a "Deus ex machina". Only difference is that life continued without Yui or Kanzaki. Not exactly the way I would have preferred the series to end, but given the multitudes of Riders and the multiple sections of the story, it did wrap up everything somewhat nicely.
What I notice these days is that newgen kamen rider series tend to leave things a little open. In 555, while the dismantlement of Smart Brain does help to prevent orphenochs from going crazy or fighting humans, it doesn't solve the fact some people will eventually become orphenochs too, or Takumi's lifespan issue. In Blade, while Kenzaki's self-sacrifice did help to prolonge the time Hajime can spend as a human, the threat of two Jokers still existing is very real, leaving the actual threat unresolved as opposed to the movie's ending. (at least based off what I read, haven't seen the movie). Kabuto did a somewhat better job at tying loose ends in regards to most of the Riders, but a lot of questions went unanswered regarding past events or Kamen Rider Kick Hopper. Odds are by the end of Den-O, a lot of paradoxical questions will be left unanswered.
While it's not necessarily a bad thing to leave some things open-ended as opposed to just saying "it's over", it can be annoying at times.

Same here. It's easy to get. After I watched it I thought about it for a few minutes and it kicked in. I wasn't baffled at it.

I don't think people were confused by Ryuki's ending itself, but more like "Why? How? I don't understand how a show that started off so good could end so goddamn horribly!"
If Kanzaki had that much control, where he could just control time whenever he felt like it (in the finale's case, making it so that Yui and he died in the explosion and mirror world nonsense didn't happen)...why didn't he just use his ability to manipulate time to save Yui period? Why need the Rider decks and the Rider war? Especially if he's just going to give in when he's the next to last one standing, as he did with Knight.
It's just stupid and causes the entire show to collapse in on itself, on top of rendering the entire series useless by undoing it.
The movie would have made for a much better ending, IMO. That's why Toei needs to stop with the alternate universe crap - the writers shoot their wads on those "alternate" endings and the series suffers with an inferior, sloppy version.

From what I understood is that its not the question of manipulating time. Its the fact that Yui must die when she reaches 20. Yui was dying when she was a kid and the mirror world extended her life till she reaches 20. So what Kenzaki was doing is to find a sacrifice to offer to the mirror world to spare Yui. So its not a question of time, Its that he can't skip the fact that she must be 20 one day. So in the end Yui accepted the fact that she will die and spared all the riders' lives.
