Update: The Webcomic (the continuation of Reboot (in a sense)) and Plans for the Movie Trilogy have appeared!!! Check the Official Page for details!

See here, ReBoot Official Page and here, Blog for the Revival

If you already know about the revival, skip to the bottom of the post. If not, read on.

If you don't know about ReBoot see Here and look on Youtube for a few episodes before trying to understand what the hype's about. I guarantee it is warranted.

-----------------------------------------------------
Rainmaker Animation Inc, the company that currently owns Mainframe Entertainment (the people who made ReBoot), has noticed the latent interest from the fans for ReBoot to make a "second-coming" of sorts. The plan is to create a Webcomic (as in similar to a comic book, possibly sold as well) and three feature film movies (One standalone, two following if the first is successful), and if it really works out, the actual return of the franchise to the airwaves. However that is, of course, far in the future.

For many months, the chosen writing and art team, which was decided by fan vote out of numerous proposals, aka Team Arrival, have been working on the webcomic, first issue titled "Reboot: Code of Honour: Paradigms Lost," which will follow on from the Cliffhanger from season 4, "The Hunt." The story, put bluntly, is thus:

Megabyte's Hunt has developed into a Net-wide war so pervasive even other Viruses are united against it. The Users have gone, spending their time in an unending MMORPG Game. A sentient System named Gnosis is created as a way to stop Megabyte, but goes rogue and begins enslaving Systems in its attempt to gain User-like powers. Two teams of heroes are assembled to stop Gnosis and bring back the Users, which will include new characters and the one-off character, Lens the Codemaster, from Season 2.

It will basically expand into the machinations of the Guardian Collective and the Codemasters, as well as other phenomena of the ReBoot Universe. The idea behind Gnosis for example is, a hidden tool of the Codemaster's to research "The Prime Code" and thus achieve User-like power and knowledge; as well as a device by the Guardians(using Sprite and Virus code, both sides actually working together), to counter Megabyte and the viruses as well. All the big characters are coming back with Matrix, Andraia, Frisket, and Lens' "padawan-like" partner, Ether, going into the MMORPG, with all the Game Cube-like fun that entails (WoW parody anyone?) and the rest of the cast dealing with Gnosis. Also an "alt story" about the game will be written and drawn by selected fans and will be part of the comic. Overall, looks like fun, and you can voice your thoughts in the above blog about it too. Oh and yes, the original creators are backing this, this is not the Goliath Chronicles.

Also pitches have been reviewed and chosen for the movies, they're hoping for a 2009-2010 release, and it isn't done by the Webcomic team, but according to the head writer for the comic, Jeff "Whizzywig" Campbell, it will knock the socks off of any ReBoot fan. Stay tuned for more details.
---------------------------------------------------------
Recently a countdown on the ReBoot Official site has popped up, probably stopping at the end of the month. What this is hasn't been disclosed yet (Press Release for movies/movie news? Webcomic Premiere? Short Film? Etc.) but it is assuredly big, and is assuredly proof that things are happening. ReBoot is making a comeback, just how it will appear to the world first is up for speculation.

Thoughts?

I'm trying not to be too excited for the filim...cause I know it'll be awhile before it comes out.

Sure took them long enough to resolve that cliff hanger.:shakefist

Interesting thing about the cliffhanger, it WAS supposed to continue after that.

The creators were hoping to have have 12 (or was it 16?) episodes to use and thus more "movies". However Cartoon Network (or some other sponsoring network, I forget) wanted to buy less and made them cram it into 8 episodes. The plan was that if they gave the network an ending so rediculously cliffhanger-ish, they would have to sign on for more episodes to not leave the audience hanging and/or frustrated that nothing else was coming. Sadly, as history reveals, the plan went over the heads of the execs and the plot ended there.

Thankfully now the story can continue on. I do agree, though, that it took some time for Rainmaker to realise what potentials their new acquistion had to offer. Fan response saw to that thankfully.

HAH! back in 2001 Scott Mcneil told me "Working on Reboot is like this..."We've got 10 new episodes to do Scott"...Then you do them and sit back for the next 4 or 5 years waiting for them to be ready to do the next ten"

It's so funny because it's so true....

I totally missed out on the last season. You know, the one where Dot almost married the other "Bob" who turned out to be Megabyte, but then it was stopped by the real Bob and Enzo's younger self with our Enzo as an adult. I think the young Enzo was either a clone of the real Enzo or a doppleganger.
