I grabbed this for the PS3 today, the reviews aren't out in force yet but seeing my local store having only one copy for the PS3 left, I decided to grab it. Anyone else buy it?

I got this game today and am wishing I'd picked up FF13 instead. There's definitely things I like about the game, but there's a lot I don't. The combat system is definitely cool though a little complicated, but this mess with the world map and having to place tiles to get around is leaving me scratching my head a bit.

Also, if you buy the Official X-box Magazine this month there's a demo for the game in there.

Thanks Kamen Grappler, I appreciate your feedback. The reviews for the game so far have kind of left me cold and I think I'll prolly return my unopened copy in a couple of days.

It seems to be overly complicated.

On one hand, it does sound like the combat system takes some getting used to.

On the other, it has scenes like this and I just want to play it to see What the hell is going on:

Taking some time away from FFXIII and God of War III today, I finally sat down for a few hours with the game. Overall it turned out a lot better than I thought it would be. The combat system is pretty in depth once you get into all the smaller aspects of it, and I actually Like the world progression through tiles. but then I like puzzles, which it is sort of. I don't think it really stands up to FFXIII, and I still think this could have benefited from being held back a few weeks to release a month or so after the giants that release in march, but it's definitely worth my money.

Also, I find the clothing shop to be a guilty pleasure in this game.

I wouldn't say they're even remotely similar, outside of the possibility that enemies can still attack in the middle of your turn to interrupt you. The (limited) cover system works completely differently from, and it's really more about running in and taking out things before they take you, than it is about any real strategic planning.

Tough decision, return it or keep it... I still have it sitting here. I'm leaning towards keeping it now, after reading Unmei's thoughts.
