Resident Evil Survivor Unit

I’ve been a fan of the Resident Evil series since the first game scared me stiff back in '96, so seeing Barry Burton on the roster gave me a genuine smile. He’s always been underrated, and I hated how he kept getting sidelined after the first game. This setup—with fixed cameras, no voice acting, and puzzles—feels like a love letter to the classic RE fans like me. I’m cautiously optimistic. The tower defense gameplay sounds odd on paper, but I’ve seen worse ideas work when handled properly. As long as it respects the tone of early Resident Evil—quiet dread, tense decisions, weird monsters—I’ll give it a fair shot. And bringing back Marvin and Alyssa Ashcroft? That’s deep-cut fan service in the best way.

The tower defense aspect mixed with Resident Evil lore intrigues me more than I expected. I’ve worked in game design, and I can see how Capcom might be using this mobile title to test new mechanics before trying them elsewhere. Lane-based systems combined with team strategy could actually create a pretty addictive gameplay loop, especially when the player has to manage classic RE-style resource scarcity. The fact that there’s no voice acting also makes me curious about how they’ll deliver story moments. If done right, that silence could add to the atmosphere. I’ll be watching this closely.

I love that this isn’t canon. I know that sounds weird, but it gives them freedom to do what fans always imagine. Leon and Claire in a team with Jill? That’s dream material. Plus, Becca from Resistance and Marvin finally getting to fight? It’s like someone read fan posts and made them into a real game. I don’t care if the gameplay is weird. I’ll play it just to see the interactions that never got to happen in the real timeline.
