This is a blog about modding the ps3, which seems really interesting to me...
Since It is only Hardware modification (and we all live in Africa^^") this is not illegal certainly not to look around.

Well as far as I know it is not trackable (untill now)
I know there is a JP-US group who hacked the ps3 a few months after it's release and they are still running on psn smoothly. I saw one of those ps3s in action myself... but they refused to give the exploid... (smart of them though)
