Generator Gawl - Hmm. Well the story really surprised me, since the commercials didnt do it justice. The basic idea is that three guys come from the future to stop some terrible disaster and they end up renting a room at this chics place. Antics ensue, good action and a nice plot.
Slayers - Set in a Fantasy world, the story follows the exploits of Lina Inverse, the Dragon Killer. Jokes are always made about her small breast size. She ends up meeting some traveling companions on her adventures and comedy ensues because of that. It has romance, action, and hilarity. The plot developes and changes throughout each season. I havent watched in a while but I remember the first season followed Lina as she meets Gourrey for the first time, and meets Zelgadis who comes in as a villain at first but becomes a good friend later. Very damn good. I suggest getting the first season and then seeing if you would like more. Second season has to be the best one, I think. Just such a climatic build up to the end. Third Season was ok but good if you are already a fan. The movies/OVAs are good as well. They are slightly different than the TV series as it follows Lina and her sidekick/rival Naga as they get themselves into all sorts of mischief for money and food. Its mostly comedy.
Sorcerer Hunters - Mostly comedy with some nice dramatic moments scattered around and it gets heavy towards the end. It follows a group of 5 warriors called the Sorcerer Hunters. In the world there are magic users and normal people, the magic users sometimes use their abilities to grief the people or break the laws. Sorcerer Hunters are called in to defeat these Bad Magicians. It follows the main character Carrot who travels with two girls whom he considers his own sisters. But they actually love him more than that. His younger brother Maron (who looks like the older brother), and Gato, the muscley guy. It's mostly comedy, again. It has some great action and trust me. If you loved Tenchi at all you will love every single second of Sorcerer Hunters. My god what an ending it had. It was powerful.
Trigun - *nodnod* you will most definitely like that one.
Gundam - If you are interested in Gundam, just check out Gundam Wing first. Before you even look at any others just look at Gundam Wing. It has great animation that still looks fresh, great music, good action, and a very long and drawn out plot. It's very political and heavy in politics. But its not as boring as the Ghost in the Shell: TV Series politics. G Gundam is more of a fighting series which is why I loved it so much. It had a powerful story, good music, and man.. just wow. If you liked DBZ you might like G Gundam. But most people hate G Gundam with a passion. 008th MS Team is also very good to check out. Simple story, great animation, and gives you a sense of the universe. Most people love to suggest MS Gundam (the first season) but its very old and the animation is usually a turn off to people who cant stand older animes. I think it looks great still and has great plots even for today. But I try to suggest only ones that might grab your interest immediately and memorably.

Record of Lodoss Wars: I have that. only the OVA series though. I never did get the TV series. I really should. It was a great anime though. Very Dungeons and Dragons like, in the setting and feel. Deedlit is cute. It is a must watch for Anime Fans. But its not for everyone. I really like Legend of Crystania. Its sort of a sequal to Lodoss Wars. I really loved it but sometimes it does get a bit boring. Its one of those animes you could really fall asleep to if you're tired.
Also Ataru's ex-girlfriend Shinobu, and later introduces characters like Mendou, Ran, etc. It's Rumiko Takahashi's longest anime and she is most famous for it in Japan. Especially because the character Lum was modelled after a swimsuit model back in the 70s known as Agnes Lum.
