Question about updating iTouch to iOS 4

So, I'd really like to update my iTouch to the latest version (considering it's free and all), but I don't have any of my music backed up. I could care less about if I lost my Apps, or other media...I JUST CAN'T LOST MY MUSIC! Is there a program I could download to temporarily hold my music from the Touch while it downloads to the latest version?

Don't you have that music originally on your computer? Just re-sync it all after you update. Plus, I don't even think upgrading wipes out everything(though I could be wrong).

NO, they usually dont. Everything pretty much stays where they are, unless this is some huuuge update that for some reason would do that. I've been avoiding updating for a while now cuz there hasnt been a good jailbreak for the latest update for the 3rd gen iPod Touch.

No, a lot of the music I downloaded a long time ago, and due to my limited amount of space on my laptop...I just delte it after I transfer.

The message says:

Updating to iOS 4.0 will delete all media including including iTunes store purchases (which I should note, I don't purchase my music from iTunes). To preserve your media, apply this update on the computer where you sync music, videos, and photos.
