Power Rangers RPM

They obviously do, otherwise there wouldn't be a seventeenth season in the first place. Not to mention things like the high budget, past characters coming back, the continuity being pretty well maintained, etc.

I don't think you understand how expensive a show in its 17th season is. It's very expensive, because Disney has to pay more for everything: things like studio and equipment hire, location rent, cast, crew, etc. all cost more, because these people know the show has the money to pay them more than a usual gig.

Actually, RPM is probably the most expensive series of PR to date. You're talking about $300,000 to $500,000 an episode. I know for a fact the studio rent for RPM is $2 million alone, which is comparable to the average CW series. RPM might also have the most amount of original footage since MMPR. If Disney really didn't care, they would have just Saban'd it, and gave the zords feelings and made them talk.

Instead, we have an epic premise, high production values, lots and lots and lots of original footage, more original non-Sentai Rangers, and -- potentially -- original zord footage.

Disney could quite easily sacrifice all this for another run-of-the-mill series, that costs no-where near as much (like, a 10th of PR's budget). But instead, they do care, and that's why I hate it when people bash Disney.

Well first I would like to say, Disney went to New Zealand to make the show cheaper so what are you saying its the highest budget season.

Reasons why it is not the highest budget season

1)It only has 32 episodes

2) A brand new cast who dont know what PR is (so they dont have to pay them that much)

3)300,000 to 500,000 is very cheap for Disney. We are talking about a billion dollar company here.

4) The American footage tends to be bad, and full of cheap explosions (Sorry Koichi your one of the last good EP in PR but I hope you understand...)

5)Disney has only made original zord footage...what once? And that was probably due to the EP begging for it.

Im not saying the EP are bad im saying Disney does not care and the show is going downhill(well it is downhill:shakefist)

Saban's Power Rangers were better.

I second that (Except for DT that was amazing!)

Filming in New Zealand only saves approx. 15% off the budget.

32 episodes at $300k to $500k >>> 40 episodes at $100k

2) A brand new cast who dont know what PR is (so they dont have to pay them that much)
Not how television works. Fresh casts can still demand decent salaries, if the series they work on is long established. I don't know about JF or RPM, but OO's regular cast were paid $300k each.

3)300,000 to 500,000 is very cheap for Disney. We are talking about a billion dollar company here.
Again, not how television works. Budgets take into consideration multiple factors, like "does it really need to cost X amount?" and "will we make our money back from ad revenue?"

Disney's other shows, like LOST or Desperate Housewives, can have massive budgets of $5 million an episode because they make Disney something like $15 million gross profit. PR doesn't, so can't have as high a budget.

4) The American footage tends to be bad, and full of cheap explosions (Sorry Koichi your one of the last good EP in PR but I hope you understand...)
Really nothing to do with Disney. It's the EP's personal choice to have that many explosions, not Disney's.

5)Disney has only made original zord footage...what once? And that was probably due to the EP begging for it.
Yes, and? RPM can change that.

Im not saying the EP are bad im saying Disney does not care and the show is going downhill(well it is downhill:shakefist)
They do care, because they wouldn't have implemented all these changes. Disney are trying to cement PR's future. Any other network would have just cancelled the series, but instead, Disney put more money into it, got their sister company to take over creatively and technically, and are going out on a limb.

RPM isn't dark, it's relevant - something Disney has never tried before with the franchise. And yes, by "relevant", I mean RPM deals with topics and discussion head-on and directly, PBS-style. Global warming, immigration, death, war.

That is all...

:confused2

my only complaint is that I wish Disney would try to do something akin to what Toei does with SS and add some of their other creative arms to the franchise. And by that I mean, maybe character specific image songs and magazine shoots, etc...

Aside from that, I'm currently waiting and hoping that PRM will continue to be a good series.

It would be nice if they could do annual books for a series after it's over, like with the Syogakukan books for Super Sentai, Kamen Rider, and everything else they've got.

If Disney is putting more money into the series why would they kick it to ABC Kids only?
Already "explained", but I will go over it once again:

The key demo for PR is 3 to 11, but XD is 6 to 14. If PR aired on XD, Disney would only get money for 6 to 14 year old viewers, and there are of-course more 3 to 5 year old viewers than 6 to 14.

Also, by being only on ABC Kids, the ratings will be much higher for that single broadcast: I guess one of PR's problems is the audience were too split up, between ABC Kids and Toon Disney, and this meant lost revenue.

By only have one single broadcast, instead of having 3 broadcasts with average ratings, Disney would have 1 with high ratings. Also, the cost of advertising on ABC Kids >>> Toon Disney, so Disney would make more money from making it ABC Kids exclusive, rather than cable-only.
