Although, I've been under the weather, I managed to see this week's episode. I liked the setup to Catastros. It was cool that they tied in his backstory to the great battle.
When I first heard this episode was about trying to ride a horse, I had my doubts. The chase scenes were well done though. I love the effect of the purple dimension as well. Nick seems to be a cool Red Ranger so far. I still hope he doesn't get too much focus though, cause that's one way to ensure I'm sick of a character - ala Sky.
Phineas is actually starting to grow on me. I like the friendship they've established between him and Nick and although obviously not going to win any popularity contests in the near future, he does provide some interesting insights.
I liked how they used the speaking spell backwards concept, which matches up with Lost Galaxy's use of spells. It was hillarious when Chip kept trying to remember the spell and would keep coming up with some mexican dish or something. It's good to see that they're keeping up with subplots, which is something that I felt S.P.D. needed more of.
Things seem to be heating up between the villains. No one really seems to trust each other. The Master is the only one keeping them in their place right now. We don't actually hear the Master speak either. This setup is way too much like Omni not to reuse the character. And since the character doesn't have a name yet, there's still a chance.
Nick bonding with Catastros was pretty cool. It was a clever use of the dark seal to transport between dimensions. The Centaurus Phoenix Megazord was looked cool in appearence, but I don't think I'm too disappointed we won't be seeing that head whip thing again. Good that we get the Titan Megazord back. It's only been used once. Koragg becomes even more upset with Nick.
This was definitely a great episode and I'm glad to see Mystic Force handling the mythologies so well. The storytelling seems to be much better than S.P.D.'s. Next week sounds intriguing. I wonder what the Fire Heart is.
