Of course with any landmark film comes a wave of imitators, some bearing the actual name. There were sequels that attempted to continue the Poltergeist story, just as there were for The Exorcist and many other scary movies that weren’t so scary the second time around. There was also a remake of the original Poltergeist in 2015, the marketing of which focused entirely on the clown.</p>

It's eerie how nearly every person in the original cast is no longer with us. Every single actor and actress, including the lead child actress, met untimely ends. Most actors from the '80s are still alive, but everyone from the original Poltergeist movie is gone. It's like a dark cloud hanging over the film. Are they certain they want to take this risk and remake such a cursed movie?
