I havent. I will openly say that because I've seen enough anime in my time to know why people like the Sub. Because they are more forgiving and it was free for them to download and watch. They are hearing a different language they dont understand so they arent hearing the show in the same way Japanese are hearing it. Yes, I bet One Piece had very serious stories about murder, betrayal, beer, and other mature themes. Those stories resonate from the Dub. I can tell that the show takes itself seriously in the Sub and in the Dub too.
You can say that all you want, but no.... you cannot see the quality of One Piece through that Dub. Like I tried to illustrate above, please do not lump me into the corner with Sub Elitists.

I've seen and enjoyed many subs. Even the DBZ with its changed music wasn't
that bad, tho I prefered the sub.
One Piece Dub on the other hand is

Yeah it's got mature themes, but mixed in will with silly. Though Japanese people may hear it differently because of the language... as a human you are able to listen and understand sincerity, emotion and flow.
Something the One Piece Japanese VA's have in spades.
And no... not all the Dub cast are bad.
Some are good, but they speak to a terrible back drop of replaced musich that didn't need to be replaced.
I am not a music snob either. I understand why they changed it for DBZ and I hear Zatch Bell has some changed music as well, but it doesn't bother me.
But the animation is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. I can't stand it. Their faces are retarded looking. You're not going to tell me that a show with Clown Bosses and Shark People and Pinnoccio nosed friends with sling shots is a good anime.
Damn right. One Piece's style is strong and unique. What it does in its style it does with dedicated purpose. Buggie the Clown wasn't my favorite, but the Shark guys.... in the original version..... incredible. As well as Usopp with his Pinnocio nose, since he is The King of Liars. :thumbs:
Usopp's a
excellent example of this kinda character done right. Most times he's be useless and obnoxious dead wait for the sake of comedy relief. Instead, he pulls his wait and because he's not super powered he pulls it harder than anyone else.
Some of those characters look like Disney Toons for cryin out loud and their mouths get enourmously huge when they scream that I bust out laughing when it's supposed to be a serious moment.
And good lord when they SCREAM it's hilarious. Especially with Lufei's voice. That's hysterical.
I got no problem with Disney characters, but Luffy's roar in the sub is one of a boy filled with rage. An power to be reconned with.
The only reason people dont like the dub is because the voices... and the occassional "omg no bloods? omg no booze?". Does missing out on blood and booze really take away from what REALLY makes this show suck? Nah.
Depends on the end of the Arabast Saga, where it's a necessity. But no, loss of blood and booze do not a good anime make. That's not needed. What is needed is an ensamble cast of characters with voices that
inspire and not grate on your soul. Yes, some of those voices are like listening to nails across a chalk board, but in addition it's the mixed in music that just steals away any true sincere emotion the adventure normally packs.
And the way the music is mixed in. It's strangely too loud. I remember DBZ Season 3 having this problem. They didn't get the volume right so that when it all comes together it just doesn't sound right.
I cant imagine watching this show on sub and liking it. I just cant.
If you've convinced yourself, unfortuantely this will probably be true.
I CAN imagine how other people ended up liking it. Easily. You download it, you watch it. You say "eh not bad". You point out what was good. The action was nice. Kinda funny. You'll keep watching. And as you keep watching the show goes into a story arc and you dont stop and you end up getting deep into it. The characters grow on you and you are not only laughing but caring for them when things get serious.
Exactally. Oddly enough, with One Piece I thought it was only alright. But then something happened that turned it up a billion notches and I was sold. Since then it's pounded out incredible story after incredible story... deep characters, plots, twists and fantastic sights.
It's a shame you'll never know..... the wonders I've seen, but as a friend I'm telling you, the **** shown on CN in the dub is NOT a good gauge on how good One Piece actually is.
However I'm being VERY vain with this anime. I just cant look at how completely stupid these characters look without laughing. I cant take it seriously, at all.
You can give the main cast all the seriously, kick ass poses and expressions you want. Throw blood all over them and make them out to be bad asses. But that's not going to change my opinion that they look stupid and that every single character of the show is even worse looking. The show itself is what sucks in my eye. Not the dub.
And yes. Im hatin with extreme prejudice here brutha. I just cant get into it. Well, more like I refuse to.
Sorry, when I see treasure box people, pinnoccio, big mouths, and clown villains, I draw the line. *gets a stick and draws it* :anime:
So, by this rational, those who've seen Masked Rider and hated it, probably wouldn't like Kamen Rider Black.
