Not in Japan. Consoles have a very long life in Japan. Persona 4 was released for the PS2 in July 2008 in Japan, one and a half years after the PS3 was released (November 2006).

1) PS4 isn't even out in Japan
2) PS2 actually completely died only a handful of years ago
3) You must only be playing AAA releases, because a lot of smaller stuff comes out on consoles at the end of their life span.
4) You must not be a persona fan. Persona 4 came out when ps3 was out as well. yet it came out on ps2.


You see, certain games just aren't big enough to jump on band wagon. They need an established install base. A lot of people own ps3, way more than ps4. Thus the amount of potential buyers is way bigger.

1. I know, but Japan took forever to even start doing things on BD, so I just took it as their inability to adapt to new technology pretty quickly. However, the PS4 is BD, so they have no excuse this time around.

2. That is because the PS3 was out in just 5 years after the PS2. THis is the longest generation ever.

3. I play whatever interests me, be it AAA or not. However, if it isn't SMT, GTAish, or a Nintendo or Sony first party title, I usually don't give a crap about it anymore. I don't have time to play every video game that comes out anymore, so I have to be picky with my games selection. This year, the only games I have bought are Soul Hackers, SMT IV, The Last of Us, Injustice, GTAV, and Zelda ALBW.

4. I bought P4 on the PS2, but my backwards compatible PS3 died before I even got the chance to play it, and I don't own a Vita to play it on.

That's all irrelevant though. As long as the majority of PS3s are still working and its cheaper to make a game on the PS3 than the PS4, it's still a sound decision.

To be fair, I didn't know that stuff either but I guess if it makes me less of a fan then maybe I didn't want to know about it in the first place. :shrug:

Anyways, I guess I got a deadline for myself to when I should try to play and beat Persona 4 by (that being Winter 2014 (also fwiw, that trailer for P5 honestly kinda freaked me out)).
