Apparently audiences would rather see an Adam Sandler sequel than this.

I've read the prequel comic and I absolutely love the world that Pacific Rim is set on. The viewing public better not screw this up for me. >8(

Seeing how people like Man of Steel, I can see them hop to Pacific Rim because of the robot factor. There's no Transformers this year,so it would make a great start for something different. Mind you Transformers, while popular , was still a niche until the 2007 film like other similar properties.

I'll see both if not PR solely.

The general audiences are stupid. This is proven time and again when movies like Twilight make millions and great movies like Speed Racer fizzal
Damn right. Speed Racer was freaking awesome.

So the most important rule when they were developing the Kaijuu was that a man could be fitted into the design so it would keep true to the original, Japanese Kaijuu genre nature... Just when I thought I couldn't love this movie any more :anime:

My thoughts exactly. This movie is doing EVERYTHING in its power to make me love it before I've even seen it.

Impromptu review of the film by game writer Hideo Kojima:

[hide]

I have never imagined that I would be fortunate enough to see a film like this in my life. The emotional rush I had inside me was the same kind I had when I felt the outer space via "2001: A Space Odyssey" and when I had touched the dinosaur in "Jurassic Park". Animation and special effects movies and shows that I loved in my childhood days -they all truly exist in the screen. Director Guillermo del Toro offers this spectacular vision of massive kaijus and robots in PACIFIC RIM. This film is not simply a film to be respected, but most importantly, it let us dream the future of entertainment movies. Pacific Rim is the ultimate otaku film that all of us had always been waiting for. Who are you, if you are Japanese and won't watch this? I hope you would accept this inspirational love letter that had traveled across the Pacific, written by Director Guillermo del Toro. [/hide]
