Original Hibiki ending?

I agree about Kirameki, he was my least favorite of the group, design wise.
Guess they can make a musical theme seem feasible but not a fish.

It would have probably cost too much for Toei, though and still manage to alienate the viewers acquainted to Rider by the soap opera silliness of Ryuki or Faiz.
In what ways would it be more expensive? I always thought it'd be cheaper actually. Either way, I would have loved 48 episodes of the movie style setting.

Definitely agreed about the movie, despite its faults I seriously love that thing. The whole big battle near the end was like, exactly what I wanted to see...good guys and bad guys running around all over the place with things blowing up everywhere. Plus the part with Touki smashing the Hime to bits. :buttrock:
I always found it funny that just after the movie came out, a lot of people said it didn't even look like a toku movie. Aside from the ending(I guess not showing the end to climatic battles is one of Hibki's "things") I loved the movie. I really wish we could get more riders like Nishiki these days, don't see a lot of kickass, spunky riders anymore.

I haven't ever seen anything from the first writers that say how it would have been if they had stayed on through the end. Something interesting to consider though: according to the Hibiki "Perfect Archive" books, the change happened at episode #30.

You have the "Perfect Archive" books? What's in it? I thought of getting them but no idea what's in it.

They really did. To my surprises of surprise, they did.

Hmm...really? In a way, Hibiki Movie seemed more toku-like than almost all the others I've seen. I loved it. And I loved Kabuki's design as well as his character. The ending to him was the perfect (in-your-face, totally unexpected way) to finish. Kickass music as well. ::loves flashback and Kabuki's Tanjou!::

And ahh, Inoue did...Hmm. he's quite the versatile writer then. Which one was Habataki?

Yeah, I'm sure I wasn't the only one that thought "wtf?" when it was first revealed that it was going to be a music themed season. For all its flaws early on, the show really worked well with the theme they had, not something I could see any other new gen show doing.

Pretty sure I heard someone say that "the movie abandoned all aspects of what a true toku is" more than a few times.

First rider on the left, the brown Oni with the hawk/flute theme going on.

I just found a torrent for the DC version of the movie, to anyone that's seen it, what are some of the differences in this and the original cut?

[HIDE]DC Cut - since I have the DVD - Shows Kabuki's Death. That's probably the most memorable difference. Other differences include a few extended scenes that allow for better transition, more screen times, etc. [/HIDE]

I liked the DC version more because of what's in the Spoiler Tags.

Ahh him. Yeah, he definitely looked like Icarus. Nishiki's wasn't bad either, but Kabuki was still my fave design of the movie Oni.

Thanks.

Just got done watching it, liked it better than the original, mostly for those small differences. I haven't seen the movie in a few months, so it was fun getting to see Nishiki run wild again.

Might as well ask here again. Episode 29 was (I think) the last time we saw Eiki show up. Since Inoue took over at 30 and we never hear from Eiki again, was he intended to be a main character under the original writers? Most of the stock Oni never got as much dialouge as he got. So it just makes me wonder.

Speaking of "the movie" did TV-Nihon ever release that? I always wanted to see it but I dont see it on their torrents.

Don't think they have, they usually wait for the Director's Cut version for all the rider movies, but this one came out in...May I think. You should try watching the raw though, it's not that hard to understand. Maybe use Igadevil's guide for it, that's what I did and I was more or less able to understand what was going on.

I've just assumed that, in terms of sets and wardrobe, it would be a tad more costlier than just setting up shop in a coffee house with the latest metro fashions.

Blast, I'll have to check out the DC now. I was hesitant because I think, other than G4, the director's cuts went and made all of their movies worse. Well, excluding Paradise Lost, since that movie needed to be completely rewritten and refilmed to be improved in any way. I was one of a handful who liked Missing Ace, but the DC was truly awful and ruined what I did like about it in the first place.

One thing that the Hibiki movie let me down on -- it's not even important -- the origami disc animals. Remember when Midori told Asumu that back in the old days, the onis used origami animals? I think what helped me like the movie is what interested me about the series when it was first announced was the emphasis of traditional Japanese culture and imagery (which is why Todoroki should have had a shamisen!). And you can't go any further than being set in that sengoku time period, really, which is why I think the origami animals would have been more interesting to see.

The DC of Hibiki adds to a certain feeling that is perpetuated throughout the movie itself. IMO, that works for it eventhough both DC and regular versions both worked. I also liked Missing Ace quite a but I can't recall what the DC was about::digs out DVD::

Well the movie had origami disc animals used in a BIG way but entirely too briefly IMO. As for Todoroki with a shamisen, you can't jam on that - at least I don't think so. ::shrugs::
