Im not straight but my boyfriend is
Well, I decided to try my hand at a fic. I don't know how long it will go on, or if I'll even finish what I have so far. But I'm going to post it anyways.

Title: Obsidian
Pairing: Yaguruma/Kageyama
Rating: May go up to NC17, but this chapter is PG...I dunno. 16 or something.
Warnings: Subtle gay love...about as much as they show in Kabuto anyways.
Spoilers for Kabuto, around episode 30-40, I don't remember exactly which episode this happens in.
Disclaimer: If you don't like gay love, don't read this. If you're going to flame, take it elsewhere, I don't need your bullocks.
Summary: Yaguruma takes Kageyama 'home' after his fight with the worms.

Chapter 01

Yaguruma doesn't have a home to take Kageyama to tonight. He hasn't been to his own home in weeks, and he's sure he's been evicted from it by now, rent way past it's due date. It's not like Yaguruma cares anyways. But he knows that Kageyama is not going to fair well in the cold night. Not in the shape he's in right now. Yaguruma does his best to take Kageyama's weight onto his own lithe frame, but it's difficult to do when the boy keeps stumbling and dragging him down. Yaguruma smiles at the thought. Dragging him down, as if Yaguruma could possibly sink any lower.

Kageyama's breathing is ragged and laboured in Yaguruma's ear, and Yaguruma murmurs to him, coaxing him along. Only a little further now, you know you can't give up yet. Something along those lines, although Yaguruma isn't really paying enough attention to the words coming from his own lips. He searches the road for a motel he can pull Kageyama into, and after a half hour or so of walking he finally spots one, run down and nearly abandoned. Yaguruma drags Kageyama towards one of the further rooms, and leans him up against the wall. Without Yaguruma's support, Kageyama slides down the wall onto the ground. Yaguruma makes a noise of annoyance and leaves him there while he pulls a thin pin out of his belt and begins to pick the lock on the door. The lock pops open with a click a minute later, and Yaguruma swings the door open, surveying the room from his kneeling position. It's empty, dark, and smells like piss.

" Let's go, Aibou." Yaguruma says as he grabs Kageyama by the shoulders and heaves him up, using Kageyama's weight to sling him over one shoulder. Once Yaguruma is standing, it's easier to shuffle into the door, and then it's only a few steps more to the bed where Yaguruma dumps Kageyama's body. Kageyama groans in pain, but Yaguruma pays it no attention as he shuts the door and bolts it from the inside. He turns and leans against the door, folding his arms across his chest, one arm bare, the other clad in leather. Kageyama's eyes open and he turns his head as much as the pain will allow, and stares at Yaguruma. Somewhere in his foggy mind it occurs to Kageyama that Yaguruma has always been by his side every time he has been wounded, and that he now associates the feeling of pain and vulnerability to Yaguruma's face, and those steady eyes.

" It hurts," Kageyama wheezes, hoping for some sort of relief.

"Of course it does," Yaguruma replies, unmoving.

What is it exactly that Kageyama expects? " I think I need to go to the hospital." Kageyama murmurs as he closes his eyes.

" There are a thousand and one reasons why you will not be going to the hospital, Aibou. Don't worry. I will take care of you now." Yaguruma says as he walks towards the bed. Kageyama knows better than to argue. Yaguruma reaches into his leather duster and pulls out a sharp looking switchblade. He cuts the fastening belts on the thick Zect vest Kageyama is wearing, and pulls it off as gently as he can. He doesn't know if the fight broke any ribs, and he doesn't want to chance causing any more damage. The knife next finds the soft shirt beneath, and eats silently at the cloth, all the way from the hem to neckline. Yaguruma's hands part the shirt and he looks over Kageyama's chest. Bruises are already beginning to form on the pale skin. Yaguruma's hands begin to gently roam over Kageyama's chest, looking for broken bones. Kageyama winces from pain, but he refuses to cry out.

" Nothing broken," Yaguruma says. " This is good news, Aibou." he says as he cuts away the arms of the shirt so he can pull it off. Then come the heavy boots, which he unlaces and pulls off. He leaves the socks and pants on, and pulls the blankets up over him. " I'll be back," Yaguruma says. Kageyama can't find words to keep him from leaving.

It seems to Kageyama that it's only an instant after he closes his eyes that Yaguruma is shaking him awake. Kageyama can smell the heavy, sharp scent of ointment, and also a delicious fragrance.

" Wake up, you need to drink this now." Yaguruma says. He's holding a styrofoam cup of soup, and it's steaming. Kageyama's mouth waters, and he tries to sit up, struggling to do even this simple task. Muscles ache and groan in protest, but then Yaguruma's strong arm is around him, helping him up. And the cup is pressed to Kageyama's lips and hot soup is spilling into his open mouth. Kageyama drinks greedily, not even chewing the cubes of tofu floating in the broth. It's a little too salty, but Kageyama doesn't really mind.

It takes Kageyama twenty minutes to drink everything in the cup, and Yaguruma makes sure it's gone, every little bit, before letting Kageyama rest back against the pillows. Kageyama reaches up with shakey fingers, touching his face. He can feel cool salve on the cut on his face, and when he rubs his fingers together it smells of camphor. He lets his hand fall back to the bed, and just before he loses conciousness again he hears a strange ripping and tearing sound coming from the bathroom.

The next time Kageyama wakes up, he feels much better. There isn't as much pain, and he doesn't feel so groggy. He lifts his head and looks around him. Yaguruma is sleeping on the bed beside him, lying on his side, his back to Kageyama. Kageyama's brows furrow and he slowly sits up on his elbows. Yaguruma is very still. Fear catches in Kageyama's throat and he thinks for a moment Yaguruma is dead. Kageyama reaches out and his fingertips gently press against Yaguruma's neck to feel for a pulse.

Kageyama is startled back when Yaguruma speaks, "Do you think I'm a ghost?" he asks.

" No," Kageyama says sheepishly. " You...you weren't moving. It didn't look like you were breathing." he said. Yaguruma rolls over onto his back slowly, and stares up at Kageyama. Their eyes lock, and it takes Kageyama a moment to pull his stare away.

" You saved me." he said, quietly. Yaguruma does not smile, and Kageyama tenses.

" You would have done the same for me," Yaguruma says, though they both know that the boy would not have. They are quiet a moment longer before Yaguruma finally sits up and reaches out, his hand threading through Kageyama's hair and pulling him close, so that their brows are touching.

" I will protect you in any way I can, Aibou." he murmurs. Kageyama's eyes lock onto his, and he feels a rush of gratitude.

" Thank you, Aniki." he murmurs softly.

This is a pretty good start. You got the characters' feel down pretty well. I'll keep watching this one!

Thank you Iga. Like I said, it means alot that you are saying this. Especially since I'm such a KR Newb. XD

I think I shall continue on with this story.

Chapter Two

Kageyama did not have a problem putting on the clothes that Yaguruma had given to him. What he had a problem with was how similar the clothing was to what Yaguruma now wore, as if they were now a small army of their own. Kageyama pulled on the leather duster, which had one arm missing. He swallowed hard, remembering the stories his mother would tell him about the wandering Ronin, who would let one sleeve dangle of their robe, concealing their free arm inside. With the sleeve torn off his coat, Kageyama felt that this was Yaguruma's way of saying they had no master, rather than they had lost one.

He turned towards Yaguruma, his head bowed in submission, and he cautiously raised his eyes to meet Yaguruma's. Yaguruma was assessing him, and Kageyama wondered if Yaguruma would find him worthy. " Come here." Yaguruma said quietly.

Kageyama took a step towards Yaguruma, but he didn't come any further than this. Yaguruma's smile was not one of a man who was pleased, rather it seemed the smile was patronizing and laced with annoyance. " Do you think I am going to hurt you?" Yaguruma asked.

" Of course not, Aniki!" Kageyama said, angry with himself for disappointing Yaguruma. He came closer, and Yaguruma held up what appeared to be an arm band made out of leather. Kageyama held still as Yaguruma fastened it around his bare arm. But then Yaguruma was turning him, so that Yaguruma was at his back. Kageyama tensed, feeling Yaguruma step closer. Yaguruma was not touching him, but the hairs on Kageyama's neck were prickling from the warm sensation Yaguruma's breath was causing. Kageyama opened his mouth to speak, but nothing came out. His throat was tight and he could not take in a breath. Goosebumps ran up and down his arms and he shivered a little. Then he felt the cold leather around his neck. He cried out and pulled away, turning to look up at Yaguruma in confusion. He could see the leather dog collar in Yaguruma's hand.

" Why?" Kageyama asked, reaching up to touch where the collar had been.

Yaguruma did not answer, merely watching him with an intent stare. Kageyama stared back, taking in several shallow breaths, and though he had not asked his body to move, he was already turning back to Yaguruma. He felt the stiff leather at his throat again, and Yaguruma's fingers brushing against the back of his neck as he fastened it. He swallowed, feeling the pressure of the collar press against his adam's apple. He reached up and ran his fingertips over the cold metal skull designs. Now he knew that it was not that they had no master; it was that Yaguruma was his master.

Yaguruma did not step away when he was finished putting the collar on Kageyama. He stared down at the boy, at the contrast between black leather and pale skin. He brought his hands down and gripped Kageyama's shoulders. He felt Kageyama tense again. He leaned in to Kageyama, bringing his head down so that his mouth was beside Kageyama's ear. " From now on, Aibou...we are one in the darkness. There is no light for us, nor will we find it if we search. You and I are one and the same. This is how it was meant to be." he said.

Kageyama took in a deep breath and held it as he listened to Yaguruma. He did not want to agree. He did not want to give in to Yaguruma...not so easily, not without a fight. But it seemed that his words would disagree with him, because he was already uttering a 'yes', even as his mind was screaming no. He turned to face Yaguruma, surprised at how close their faces were. He stared up into Yaguruma's eyes. He could see darkness there. It frightened him.
He was startled out of his thoughts when he felt Yaguruma's hands slid beneath his coat, and he looked down to see Yaguruma fastening a rider belt around him. He looked back up at Yaguruma with furrowed brows. Click. The belt was in place. Yaguruma's slender fingers moved to open the front, and he produced a Zector, sliding it into place. Kageyama gasped a little when he felt the Zector come to life.

" Henshin," he uttered as his breath left him. Yaguruma stepped back, and Kageyama felt power snake through him like cold death. And then there really was darkness. He closed his eyes and exhaled, and when he opened them again he could see Yaguruma smiling, and this time it was with pride. Kageyama looked down at himself and saw the new rider form on his body. Dark metal, but the suit built to match Yaguruma's green hopper. " Punch Hopper." Yaguruma said, crossing his arms. Kageyama felt the thrill of power move through him, the power he'd lost when he'd lost The Bee.
He reached down and pulled the Zector out of the belt, and the Rider form disintegrated away. The Zector hopped from his hand, bounding towards the open window and leaping out. Kageyama looked to Yaguruma finally and nodded. " I am with you, Aniki. I promise." he said.

" I know." was all Yaguruma offered in reply.

Whoa! That chapter would be really good on its own, even if it wasn't part of a larger story. I like how you fill in the holes of the TV series here, covering the "transformation" of Kageyama. I like that you made him uneasy about the whole thing, as one thing that always kind of bugged me in the series is how quickly we go from Yaguruma giving Kageyama a Rider Kick (when he first appeared) to suddenly acting like they've always been best buddies. It seems like there should be a degree of hesitation, which you really nailed down.

I like how, in a sense, you got beyond the idea of Yaguruma & Kageyama as simply partners or "brothers", and showed it as almost a master/apprentice relatioship (which I always like.) In way it almost sort of reminds me of an Emperor/Darth Vader sort of thing, but that could be reading into it too much.

Looking forward to the next part!

*contains squee from recieving feedback to a minimum* Thank you, Iga. I appreciate everything you've said about this fic thus far!

Warning: This chapter contains a kiss. Yes, a single kiss. So if you're not up to a kiss, don't read it. Also, this chapter time jumps a bit, and everything is from my memory of watching the episodes once, so if they dont add up equally to the episodes, I'm sorry.

Chapter 03

Nimble fingers pluck tiny shards of glass from the ground, ever so careful not to be cut. Kageyama cradles the broken charm in his hands, looking down at it with remorse. He's lost something very dear to him. He's lost his soul, his light. It doesn't even matter what the little girl is saying about good luck charms now. Kageyama pockets the tiny charm and walks away.

He spends time working on this charm, perhaps thinking that if he can fix the broken pieces, than he can fix himself. Maybe he doesn't need Yaguruma to do this, to pull himself out of the darkness. And it's a fleeting moment of happiness when he does manage to fix it. The cracks are barely visible. Kageyama smiles.

Yaguruma however, is not impressed that his partner has found comfort in a silly little charm. It's so like Kageyama to believe in some trinket so much that he finds himself within it. The Bee zecter for example. Kageyama embodied himself within it, never envisioned himself without it, so it was inevitable that Kageyama would break when The Bee abandoned him. Even now Yaguruma knows how much Kageyama wants it back. To Kageyama, the Hopper Zector is just keeping him bound and chained in the darkness.
Yaguruma tries his best to help Kageyama see. There is no light for them. No way out of the dark. If there was a light, the dark would swallow it whole, snuff it out. Kageyama however, simply cannot grasp this concept. He can't just give up as Yaguruma has done. He needs to go on thinking that one day he'll be saved. And to him it would make it all the better if Yaguruma would be the one to do it.

Kageyama follows Yaguruma everywhere. They fight together, they eat together, they slumber together. But every once in awhile, Kageyama will roam. Yaguruma allows this, knowing that the loyal dog always returns to it's master. Kageyama takes this time alone to obsess over the charm, to finger it in his pocket, to take it out and watch the sun glimmer over it's skin. The light never looked so close before.

*~*

Darkness. Kageyama feels pain in his ankles. He might have sprained them in the fall. He's had the wind knocked out of him, and in the silence that follows he can hear his own heartbeat, fast and strong. Finally he opens his eyes and sucks in a deep, painful breath. The worm is gone. He lays there for a moment, trying to shake off the dizzyness. He sees it. His owl charm has been broken again. Kageyama let out a frusterated noise and crawls towards it.

He reaches out with his slender fingers, and just as they are closing around the shards a heavy boot crushes down on them. Kageyama winces as he feels the glass cut into his skin. He looks up and sees Yaguruma staring down at him. " Aniki," he whispers, and Yaguruma allows him to pull his hand back, empty. Kageyama lowers his eyes again, feeling worthless under his brother's stare. Yaguruma bends over and helps Kageyama sit up, and kneels beside him.

" You don't need that anymore," he says as he keeps his eyes trained on Kageyama's face. Kageyama can't bear to look at him. He gasps when he feels Yaguruma grab the front of his jacket, demanding the boy's attention.

" Kageyama...don't go seeking the light. It's useless to us." he says. Yaguruma leans closer, and Kageyama goes stiff. For a moment the boy thinks that the older man is going to kiss him. He shies away, but Yaguruma's lips find his ear instead of his mouth. " You don't need something so delicate, Kageyama. I will be strong for you."

*~*

From the moment that Yaguruma spoke those words to Kageyama, Kageyama began to follow him with every fibre of his being. He no longer questioned Yaguruma, nor did he look to the light of the sun. Not when he had Yaguruma by his side. And when he saw just how easily Yaguruma was swayed by Reina's beauty, he felt the first cold clutches of jealousy. How could Yaguruma tell him ten thousand lies, and then turn around and abandon him? Kageyama stood apart from Yaguruma, staring down at him in the golden meadow. Yaguruma was staring almost in a day dream at a violet honey blossom.

"Why didn't you finish her off?" Kageyama demanded, as he began to pace. His stomach was knotting itself up, tightening and making him sick. He balled his fists up, clenching them, feeling the nails bite into the flesh of his palms.

"You have a crush on her, don't you?" He asked. Yaguruma was silent. Kageyama scoffed and he shook his head. Every so often Kageyama could hear the spurs of Yaguruma's boots clinking against each other. He wanted to rip the off and slit Reina's throat with them.

" She's a worm, you know." Kageyama said.

Still Yaguruma did not respond. Kageyama did not give up so easily. He would not give Yaguruma up.

*~*

"Aniki," comes the hoarse, hollow whisper of Kageyama from behind. Yaguruma is sitting on the edge of the dock, looking out over the black water. " Aniki, let me help you." Kageyama whispers. Yaguruma doesn't want to face Kageyama. He's ashamed of himself. Reina made a fool out of him. He hears Kageyama's boots on the gravel behind him, then Kageyama sits next to him. Kageyama reaches out and turns Yaguruma's face towards him, a damp cloth in his hand. He began to gently wipe away the dark, crusted blood from Yaguruma's mouth, careful not to hurt him too much.

" Aniki," he said softly, " Why are you afraid of finding the light?" he asked. " Is it such a bad thing to want redemption?" he asked softly. He was given no reply however, and he felt silly for even voicing such an idea to Yaguruma. " Forgive me, Aniki. I have not yet learned my place." he said as he tucked the cloth into his pocket and stood, leaving Yaguruma to his own dark thoughts.

Yaguruma felt colder as Kageyama left, and he stoof, reaching out for him in desperation. " Aibou," he murmured, catching him by the wrist and pulling him closer. " I promised to save you, right?" he asked, watching Kageyama's eyes. They stood there together in the darkness, one man looking at another, both hoping to find something more than they could strive for. In the darkness they had only one another.

" Save me, Aniki," Kageyama said breathlessly, and before he knew it his lips were pressing almost timidly against Yaguruma's. And to his surprise, Yaguruma did not turn away. Instead the kiss was returned, warmed even by the unspoken bond the two had for each other. Kageyama was the first one to break the kiss, trying vainly to catch his breath. He raised his eyes to Yaguruma, shaking slightly under the older man's calm, quiet gaze.

" I will." Yaguruma vowed.

OMG!
I definitely have to agree that you capture the characters perfectly. I just want to smoosh them! So bad!

The only problem is I couldn't remember the order things SHOULD go in so I was a little confused cause I can't remember that far back as well. But that's MY fault bwah!
