A lot of people seem to regard adoption with as much horror as if you said "I plan to raise my baby in a crack den." I know someone who says she would never ever put her child up for adoption because the ONLY reason for a man to want to adopt is that he's a rapist/paedophile (I tried to tell her how strict the adoption laws are, she was having none of it.) Or they go on and on about "but I couldn't love a child that's not MIIIIIIIIIINE." Which is just sad
I'm re-training as a carer for the elderly, and while I haven't started the job yet, it's pretty much reinforced my wish to never have kids. Old people can be very demanding yet they can already speak, walk, read, some of them can use the toilet without assistance, etc.
dude, that is FREAKIN AWSOME!! I work with the elderly as well, i am a CNA. The job can be very demanding, you need loads of patience, good listening skills, and lots of patience, teamwork with your fellow workers, and patience.....did i mention patience? lol. As for me, it reinforced the opposite, It prepares me for having children. Alot of the lederly i work with are mentally gone and can be demanding and very cranky, similar to how a child can be. It really teaches me to be giving of my time, my energy, and most of all, myself. At the end of the day, though frustrating as it gets, they truly do i believe appreciate what you are doing for them. It teaches alot about you. Overall, it prepares me for when i make the decision to have children in the future.
