North Korea launches 3 missiles

Give me the Kabuto Zector and we'll have world peace until I die. ;)

All nations at once: "What happened to all our nuclear arms?"

Me: "Clock Over."

You think that's bad? Ishirou Honda would be very heartbroken if he were alive to see this.

The original Godzilla (1954) is still relevant today as it was 52 years ago. (The Mysterians is also worth mentioning.)

All this tension between N-Korea and other countries really doesn't do anyone any good. N-Korea is trying to roll their muscles, but the problem I feel is that perhaps they are more prone to actually USE the weapons at their disposal than the old USSR ever was. Japan is feeling pretty edgy about all this and I can't blame them. N-Korea's missile may not be able to reach the US, but they sure can reach Japan.

I'm hoping a political solution will still be able to make things cool down without much further macho-ism.

NK isn't as politically dense as a lot of commentators make things out to be. Those missiles didn't fail; that was a deliberate move on Kim's part. The locations where they fell should tell you more about Kim's political prowess than anything else. I'll flesh out my thoughts about this later, but trust me, Kim Jong Il isn't just throwing a 'temper tantrum' nor is he just a 'kid that wants more cookies.':rolleyes2:

Kim Jong Il is a competent propagandist who is using this whole mess to make it seem, at least to his own people, that they're a small country being picked on by all the big, powerful imperialist states, and being castigated and threatened for wanting the right to defend themselves.

IOW, it's to help keep him in (relatively) unquestioned power.

(What's happening in Iran is a rather different mess, and I hope the vegetable cowboy doesn't actually invade that country, too.)
