Need a sentai recommendation.

If you don't mind no subs, Maskman, Jetman, Changeman, and Gingaman are all pretty good places to start.

Though if you can, stick with Geki, it has easily the best background story for villains in years.

Maskman is availble with subs.

I recommend Changeman, Flashman, Maskman, Liveman, Turboranger, Jetman, Dairanger, GoGoV, Timeranger, Abaranger, and Gekiranger.

Kakuranger and Gingaman also coming to mind aswell.

i remember watching jetman as a kid and i really liked it, or whatever i like whatever memory i have left of it. but yeah mattcomics is right, i really dont enjoy comedy in my toku. i prefer really gritty dark stuff, so if timeranger has that maybe ill start from there.

TimeRanger isn't completely void of humor but it's just nowhere near as much in the forefront as alot of other shows if the past few years. I kind of think you need at least some threshold for humor if you going to watch sentai or even tokustatsu or anything superheroes in general. Otherwise you'll sit there and be perturbed with little things like that the monster doesn't just attack or go away while the hero does his henshin or gears up for his special move.

I might complain about shows being too wacky a lot but I've seen the opposite extreme where all color and fun is choked out of superheroes. You get the current american comicbook industry.

Also the others here are right about some of the 80's shows. Even in some of the more wacky episodes there's a certain dark aura going on. The villans plans might seem goofy on the suface but they're actually pretty sadistic when you think about it and it just makes ya want the heroes to bring the beatdown that much more.

Anyways, if you decide to try TimeRanger let me know what you think after a couple of episodes.
