Naruto =/= filler

Fighting For Justice
I've always wondered why people are always saying that Naruto is mostly filler.

I have news for you: What you consider filler, is not. All that Sasuke bullshit is filler.

The whole concept of the show is about a group of "ninja" who go on various paid missions. Now yes, the various missions may not pertain to story as a whole, but they are not filler. It's what they do.

As Aoi says, anything not from the manga is filler.

Naruto doesn't even benefit from the mangaka's input for their filler, like Bleach.

1: I can understand how Bleach has filler.

2: It may not be in the manga, but they are usually additional stories that are still missions. I know everyone wants to know what is going on with Sasuke and wants Naruto to meet up with him again and blah, blah, blah... but they have to have stuff in between. Otherwise, there would be months in between, and the characters would have more strength, and they would have to go back and explain stuff.

^ Agreed.

There are only a couple of relevant filler arcs in the show... mostly in the last season of the fillers.

@ IXAPaladin77: Naruto's story, based on what I understand it is about an idiot named Naruto who tries to strive his dream as the greatest ninja of their village... and so far, he is 80% in achieving his dream.

Least he's one step closer at achieving his goal, unlike a certain someone who wants to be a Pokemon Master.

I understand that is what the character of Naruto is about. What I am saying is that the "ninja" in his village all have jobs. That job is to go on missions. It's not to go out looking for someone who defected on his own. The latter part is what most fans think the show should be about.

I, personally find the different missions that he goes on interesting, and I like the surprises that are found in the missions that are not in the manga.

That being said, everyone here has valid points. I just made this thread because it seems that a lot of people call stuff filler just because it doesn't pertain to Naruto and Sakura's search for Sasuke.

The whole filler thing wouldn't bother me if I hadn't sat through years of listening to people rant about how superior anime is in storytelling to those silly US cartoons.

It's very important to tell those story in anime like Naruto, Bleach in the order to understand the story a whole lot better. To understand what's happening those events in the past, you know? Those events deserve to be told!
