For the most part, the people who work on Power Rangers have done a good job adapting it from the sentai shows ( in order to meet standards for the youth of a US audience. If you're a mature viewer, then not so much), but Bandai has made a real mistake with Power Rangers lately. Now I don't know if Bandai America creates any new molds for the toy lines or if they simply use the same ones that Bandai Japan made, but regardless, one, or both of them made a mistake. And this is it
Not enough villains, and too many variations of the rangers. In SPD, there are actually FOUR different versions of the red, green, and blue ranger (regular, regular with chrome paint for *shinyness*, Battle-ized, and one that Transforms into something else) and that's not counting the ones the come with vehicles, or the dolls. Meanwhile, there's what, 1, maybe 2 variations of the yellow and pink ranger? The most logical explanation is that because Power Rangers is mainly a show geared for young males, they assume the boys wouldnt want "girl " toys, so they shortpack the females That's why it's so difficult to find yellow and pink, and why they tend to fetch a nice price on eBay. Well, in truth, Bandai, is in fact wrong. I've seen kids(boys and girls)in toy stores looking for the yellow or pink ranger with their parents ( while I'm looking through the leftovers from previous series, hoping to find a gem). I've even seen a kid, probably 6 or 7 years of age,go into a fit because they only had the red, blue and green ranger. The kid eventually calmed down, finding a Shadow Ranger, and got that, but the point is still valid. The females are just as important as the males. That whole "girls are icky" thing with young kids just isn't around anymore, or at least it does not apply when it comes to TV heroes and heroines.
Next issue: villains. Even if Bandai Japan didn't make any, then take some freakin' initiatiave with the investment you're making to import these, slap your US labels on them, and actually produce a WHOLE new show. Remember the old Power Rangers? Not only did we get plenty of villains to fight our smaller sized rangers, but we got villains that our Megazords could fight!. In SPD we have "Krybot" and "Orangehead Troobian", which both are kind of the same thing, except a different class of "grunt". That's it! Come on, how can you expect little kids to have fun with these toys if that's all you're giving their rangers to fight?! Eventually they'll get bored and get into something else. It can't be that difficult to make a new mold of a toy of a villain from the show, I mean c'mon... you're a TOY company! I should'nt have to be spelling this out.
