I've got this burned somewhere. It's a great thing that the Japanese have no problem poking fun at their celebrities, where as here in N. America people are too scared of offending them. You have to remember too, these girls never went to high school. In Japan it's really only mandatory to attend up to the completion of middle school/junior high. At the time this was taken, the youngest girls (who were between 12 and 15) were STILL in school.

Also, to provide a little more context to the video, the girls were totally caught off guard with the "test" they were given here. In the FULL video from which this clip is taken (the whole thing is about an hour or so long), the girls had been told that they were coming to do some promotional appearance for their latest single for the Japanese variety show HEY!HEY!HEY! (the "motto" at the front of the classroom is indeed from the new song they were promoting at the time). Instead, as they entered the room which they were told was the "studio", they see "Monkey Boy" Okamura ("Monkey Boy" is just what I personally call him; he's a member of the Japanese comedy duo "Ninety-Nine" and a host of the show "Mechaike", which is the show that this is ACTUALLY from) playing the part of sensei. Now Monkey Boy is famous/infamous for REALLY teasing/making fun of MM. Sometimes it looks like he pushes things a little too far, and strays from being "funny" to just being "mean" (especially with Yaguchi Mari). I'm actually really impressed with how he was able to do it for the whole show, keeping a straight face throughout the whole show. :anime: Basically, the girls were caught in a "candid camera/punk'd" type of situation with this test. So they were likely really confused and flustered about the whole thing, which contributed to their scores.

Besides, since when do you have to be a brainiac to be an idol? :laugh:
