Mobile Suit Gundam: Wasteland (Sign up)

War has always been an inescapable part of history, which has no problem wth rearing it's ugly head at the worst of times and ravaging everything in it's path. The Space Era a time where it seemed a lasting peace seemed to have been established with the Earth's over population and resource problems solved with the with the introduction of space colonies. But as has been proved time and time again, people do not remain satisfied. Whil the United Nations Earth, while not perfect managed to maintain order decently, but some colonies, specifically those farthest from earth near that planet Jupiter saw their government as unfit to oversee the entireity of humanity's space colonization activity's and attempted to break away from Earth's influences and taking as many other colonies as they could with them. This attempt a secession was merely denied by the UNE and others were simply ignored. Upon seeing that their attempts to reason would not work they soon resorted to more aggressive measures. Giant humanoid machines, known as mobile suits, originally used simple for colony construction and maintenance, were soon being refitted for combat purposes, thus bringing about the creation of the SRA-002 Cyclops combat mobilee suit and began and openly declared war on the UNE, as well as declaring themselves the Space Revolutionary Army and thus began what would become known as the Space Wars.

As their fighters and defensive turrets were only moderately effective against these machines the UNE soon began to develope theirr own combat mobile suits. Unlike the SRA models these ones began as combat machines rather than refitting old worker models, the end result the UNE-001 Krieger which proved to be more agile and manueverable than the Cyclops though not possesing the same firepower or heavy armor. As days became weeks, weeks became months, months became years and the years eventually becoming a decade both sides had began inventing more and more advanced mobile suits while continually churning out the older cheaper models. But in th end it seemed the the UNE had the advantage over the SRA due to larger numbers and more rescources than the SRA. Finally a new series of mobile suits were introduced known as the Gundam series. Made from an incredibly durable material originally used for shielding of nuclear reactors aboard colonies, these five mobile suits were undoubtedly the most advanced mobile suits to date. Each of them possesing impressive weaponry that could fill various roles, as well as a powerful system known as the Flash System which could control a legion of "Bit Mobile Suits" effectively giving each pilot control over a small of mobile suits with abilities similar to those of the Gundams. These Gundam class mobile suit were thought to brring an end to the war as the struck a powerful blow for the UNE. It was hoped that this would intimidate the SRA into a surrender. That assumption was quickly proven to be wrong though as it only managed to spur the SRA into pulling one last desperation move. If they could win, neither would the UNE and thus they initiated a mass colony drop.

It was a disaster that nearly ended humanity as it reduced earth to barely hospitable wasteland. There was no more UNE, there was no more SRA, all there was now were survivors struggling to survive in nearly destroyed world. Generations later some semblance of civilization has finally began returning as people begin gathering together into small settlements, usually situated around various oases that are dotted across the scarred landscape, relying on one another to survive. Though not all try to make an honest living, as there awlas is there are those unsatisfied with what they have and aim to takee whatever they can from others, using exacavated mobile suits from the bygone era to do it. Those who follow this way of life are known as Demons thanks to their violent methods and the fact that they attack everything and everyon they see. Then there are those who simply roam the wastelands excavating old technology in order to sell it to others, those that choose this way of life are commonly known as Salvagers and have an established set of rules and regulations that each group of them adhere to as well as a set of signals recognized by all of them.

Somewhere out there on this battle scarred world are the powerful mobile suits known as Gundams, as well as a wealth of other mobile weapons waiting to be found. But just who will find them? And what will those people use them for?

The Gundams:

UNE-XX5 Gundam Altair
gx-9900.avif
An infamous model used during the Space Wars , mosty known for the incredibly destructive Satellite Cannon which just may have inspired the SRA to initiate the mass colony drop. Though the method to using it has been lost, it still proves to be a well balanced machine that is more than a match for most mobile suits.

UNE-XX4 Gundam Skyscream
gw-9800.avif
A unique transformable unit that focuses mostly on offense and agility rather than defense. In it's mobile suit mode it posses decent movement and twin beam rifles meant for filling an enemy with holes very quickly. It's fighter mode is a throwback to the old UNE fighters which while not as powerful as a mobile suit can pull off manuevers that no other machine can.

UNE-XX3 Gundam Hellgunner
gt-9600.avif
A purely long ranged Gundam possesing medium strength armor and decent speed on the ground. It's posses numerous gatling guns and rocket launchers perfect for taking out distant enemies. Unfortuneatly the Gundam posses no short ranged weapons and thus must maintain a distance between itself and enemies.

UNE-XX2 Gundam Bladebrave
mbf-p03-3.jpg

Thee exact oppsite of the Hellgunner, the Bladebrave is a purely close ranged suit relying on it's large arm mounted vibroblades, sonic knives and beam sabers of varying lengths. Naturally it posesses reinforced armor for the purposes and cant do much to enemies that are far away.

UNE-XX1 Gundam Overboost
rx-78gp04g.jpg

Quite possibly the fastest mobile suit in existence which only a very skilled pilot could possibly control. It specializes it fast hit and run strikes with it's armor being thinner than most but with attack power and speed thats off th charts. Posses a balanced arsenal as well as larger energy capacity than most.

Older models:

UNE-001 Krieger
msa-003.jpg

SRA-002 Cyclops
rms-106-1.avif

Others will be introduced later but in the earlier stages this will be it since they are the most numerous. Also when all the Gundams are claimed a suprise will be coming.

Ships:
The Vulture
A Salvager landship owned by Vayn Pyhress that hs passed through the hands of several owners over time. Since it was formerly a battleship it posseses several armaments on board and several mobile suits to defend it while the crew preforms salvage operations.

History: As a result of the mass colony drop there were a great many people that lost there lives, and a few that managed to survive. Though which ones were the lucky ones was a subjective few. Sure, death was by no means lucky, but what of those left alive that had to try to live in what was left of the world? That was a question that the youn Vayn Pyrhess was faced with at young age. On that day that he and every other looked uo toward the skies in horror as the colonies began descending through the atmosphere. millions were rushig to whatever sort of safe structure they could, from nuclearr bunkers to caves, all scrambled to get somewhere safe. In the chaos he had been among those lucky enough to get to an old bomb shelter which luckily managed to withstand the impact, but his family and friends on the other hand werent so lucky. The world he emerged into was not a kind one either. Even at his young age, no one even thought twice about beating him up to steal whatever he got his hands on. Everyone seemed to be out for their own sakes in this chaos and it seemed people like him wouldnt be around for long. That is until an older man, made him an offer. The man had been a member of the UNE army, specifically part of the Earth Defense forces and had a functioning landship as well. He offered to help Vayn, as well as let him remain on his ship, like various others had been in exchange for providing various services on thee ship. It was an offer Vayn promptly agreed to and thus became a member of the Vulture's crew. In time as things began to settle people began to group into small settlements, harvesting what water they could and growing what food they could, the captain soon came up with the idea of trading technology for these supplies, and thus the Vulture;'s crew became of of the first Salvagers. As time went on and Vayn got older Vayn became an integral part of the crew with a good eye for buried objects and some skill with mobile suit repair and maintenance. Inevitably they began encountering other salvagers and initially disputes began popping up between groups. It was fortuneate though as most Salvagers were simply trying to survive, not blow each other to bits and as such he actually had to witness the captain and others began establishing what would later become known as thee Salvager's Code thus bringing order to their operation and those of others, though it didnt quite shake of those known as Demons. Nonetheless they survived and continued on.

Years later Vayn had grown up into a competent young man who definatly knew his way around any mobile suit he could climb in to, and upon the Captain's passing he inherited the ship and the titl of Captain thus continuing the tradition that his old teacher started all those years ago. Under his command the Vulture's operations became a little more aggressive as he set his site on mobile suits rather than just possibly useful pieces of junk as well as going on the offensive whenever a Demon was spotted. One day he was trading a couple off mobile suits to a settlement for defensive purposes when hee overheard some old former soldiers talking. He heard of an old facility from near the end of the war where supposedly a powerful mobile suit was stored but never deployed. Quickly he headed back to the Vulture, gave his helmsman the direction of this rumored facility and quickly headed out after this treasure. Soon enough they came across an a crumbling factory/storage facility. Immidiately he assumed that this was what he was looking for and ran in himself as he normally did. And thats where he saw it in all it's glory. the old UNE-XX5 Altair. Returned from space to the Earth where it had been built, it was all fixed up and ready to go,but apparently wasnt in time to be redeployed before the colony drop.

Vayn couldnt resist, he had to hop into the cockpit and start it up. It was way ahead of the old Cyclops and Kriegers that he had worked on and piloted back in his day. Upon switching it on he contacted the Vulture that he had found his prize before having the Gundam shoot it's way out of the wreckage and into the light of day once again. While many suggested selling it for a huge profit, Vayn instead opted to keep it, saying that it was a treasure too rare to simply sell. Since then the Altair has become associated with the Vulture and it's crew and while it tends to keep away danger it also attracts gutsier foes who aim to take it. As his name is also strongly associated with the Altair he has adopted a psuedonymn when dealing with others just in case and in desperate situations he often attempts to bluff others with the satellite cannon , despite not knowning quite how to use it. Recently he has been trying to catch more info on the other Gundamsin order to add them to the Vultre's collection and keep them out of the wrong hands.

Name: Kyle Durin

Alias: Gin Orion

Age: 18

Appearance:
toglareqc6.jpg

Affiliation: Salvagers

Mobile Suit: SRA-002 Cyclops

Ship: The Vulture

Position: Pilot

History: Kyle spent most of his life living on earth, despite being born on a space colony. When the SRA began their revolution against the UNE, Kyle's father left for space to fight for his people. His mother, however, didn't want her son to be caught up into it and refused to join her husband in space. After the colony drops, Kyle would soon find himself completely alone as his father was killed in combat and his mother would die a few years later thanks to lingering injuries from surviving the horrific drops. He scavenged what he needed to survive from then on, eventually coming across an old SRA-002 Cyclops and, upon fixing it up, gave it a unique silver paint job.

Realizing that his chances of survival would go up if he joined a group, Kyle at first tried to join various Demon and Salvager gangs, but was turned away each time, the main reason being that his suit was considered too old and common. He eventually joined a Salvager group led by Vayn, who let him in despite what his suit was. He has since helped the group as best he can in spite of the antiquity of his suit, fighting alongside Vayn and the others against any threat that comes their way and salvaging what they can to survive.

He tries to keep his background a secret, thinking that if anyone found out about his origins, he would soon be forced to live on his own again, which is something he does not want to go back to anytime soon.
