[Anime] Mobile Suit Gundam: Universal Century Saga (0079-Victory) Mega-Thread

Some things to keep in mind with those:

F-91 was originally planned to be a TV show... and then condensed down into an OVA series... and then down into a single movie. Be prepared for things to suffer a LOT from Compression Syndrome.

And as for Victory, be aware that during its production Tomino was suffering from a nervous breakdown and was intentionally trying to kill the Gundam franchise with his rather... erratic decisions.

LOL That didn't quite work out did it, I love Stand Up to The Victory

LOL That didn't quite work out did ity

This is why, after V was over, he handed the keys to Imagawa and told him to "make something weird and wonderful".

And then we got G-Gundam. :P

Turn-A, in that regard, seems to be about Tomino finally making his peace with the franchise he spawned and, if you go by some rumors, the whole reason the Zeta Gundam movies got made was because his new (at the time) wife told him that she had always liked the show but wished it had a happier ending.

Why is Zeon attempting to overtake Earth in the first place?. If they are the furthest colonies from earth and earth has done nothing to them and they are descendents of earth then why try to overtake?.

I'm assuming there is more to the story than just "a group of colonies turning evil and deciding to rule the universe".

Really loving this show so much right now. It's an instant classic for me.

So Zaku is Char's personal mobile suit like how Zechs had Tallgeese?.

White Base is a ship carrying refugees from conquered colonies that Zeon overtook?.

In UC 0058, the Republic of Zeon declared independence from the Earth Federation. In response, the Federation applied economic pressure on them in an attempt to force them to return to the Earth Federation. Years later, on UC 0068, the Republic of Zeon changed leadership, becoming the Principality of Zeon and adopted a hardline stance, maintaining that the only way for them to preserve their independence was to militarily defeat the Federation.

The MS-06S Zaku II Commander Type is the most iconic of Char's many personal mobile suits.

The civilians in the White Base are from Side 7 which was still under Federation control.

Their version of Zaku II was one of the few things I liked about Gundam SD. He was the most serious character in the series and, unlike the other Zaku, he could actually talk coherently... Except that he still had to end his sentences with the word "Zaku", I couldn't stop laughing at that

I'm 11 episodes into Zeta. I can shake the feelings that the mecha fights in it remind me more of the early fights in DBZ than the fights of the newer Gundams... I guess it is that the old Gundam animation focused so much on the boosters... Still, it's pretty awesome.

Thanks for the clear up.

They keep saying Zakus, so I'm assuming those are the other mobile suits used by Zeon, while Zaku II is Char's personal "Tallgeese"?.

and the colonies they lived on were attacked by Zeon which is why they have now headed for Earth to live?, watching now, they literally just entered the atmosphere.

I know Gundam Wing's jet mode is called Neo-Bird Mode, what is this Gundam's jet mode called?.
