Mobile Suit Gundam 00 Discussion Thread

That's good to hear. How's their translation quality in general, in your opinion?

Shinsen got some names wrong though. Reminds me of Asuran in SEED ..lol

Nyoro improved much and rewritten the epi03.. no problems for now.

I'm not sure how I should feel about "Celestial Being", the whole wipe out everyone on the battlefield to bring peace concept is heavily flawed in my opinon.

It's addressed in the show. They realize it's flawed, but dammit, what other solutions are there? Talking it out, people still get killed while talks are being done. Wait it out, people are getting killed. This method is what the Meisters believe gets the most results under the least time. It's not the perfect solution. No one ever advertised it was the perfect solution.

But it's the solution that Celestial Being chose to operate for.

The latest episode was bullshit. Setsuna revealed his identity to the Queen? Oh yeah, so much for "a top-level secret as important as the Solar Furnaces". Plus, how could the Queen see Setsuna in the taxi when they're both travelling at like a 100 km/h? For a Queen, she's also a bloody big idiot to rescue a complete stranger just because he's from her country. She doesn't even know if he's a Conservative and is after her life or not.

And the fanservice in this episode was just pointless. In Seed, at least we saw the Captain's boobs bounce when the ship got hit, so there's a reason, albeit a lousy one. Here, we have them going to the beach in the middle of a mission instead of providing logistical support. Oh, real fucking logical.

The way 00 is going makes me think the writers have no idea or direction for the plot at all. The first 2 episodes were great, but it's been going downhill ever since. I'm going to continue watching in the hope that it'll pick up soon.

If I remember correctly, their main purpose is to become the organisation hated by the rest of the world, so that the world will focus its attention on them and become united in the process.

Which is pretty damn dumb.

Yeah, especially that they actually kill people in the process. If they were disabling equipment then it would've been better.

Actually, up till now the only character that I started to like is the Human reform league officer with a scar on his left eye (cant remember his name), he's probably the only one who looks decent and doesn't seem to have a hidden motive. I pretty much don't care about anyone else.

That Vash/Kenshin bullshit about disabling people and not killing anyone is a sick and tired cliche in anime, where the protagonist has to deal with killing people and needed a revelation that would push him forward in life. "OH WAIT I DON'T HAVE TO KILL PEOPLE, I HAVE SKILLS AND THE WEAPON TO DEFEAT THEM ONLY BY DISABLING THEM".

Which means of course, the writers will ruin it by giving him one mid way thru the series' run. :)

The Kira Yamato style of blasting off legs and arms is ridiculously stupid. If you're fighting somebody who's trying to kill you you go for the torso and make them dead first.

THANK YOU.

And while we're at it...

Yes, it kills people. But so does talking for peace and peaceful solutions. While that's being crafted and **** and diplomats are being pampered, the people are still suffering and dying from conflict. Celestial Being sidesteps and spits on the formality, and deliver what -they- feel to be the best solution. Sure, people are still going to die, but it's sure as hell going to be fewer than if the two countries wait it out and try to talk...while their armies still try to kill each other.

On a side note, this was the highlight of Episode 8, and the reason as to why Setsuna unveiled that he was a Meister. He essentially told Ismael that yes, Meisters will fucking come and **** your country up if you don't get your **** together. Because it's faster than Ismael's massive trip around the world that ended up getting jack **** done except some food donations. Food donations don't protect against terrorist bullets 'cause your people's rioting for energy, unfortunately.

Is it right? No. Is it the best solution? **** no. Is it the only solution that Setsuna F. Seiei trusts in? Hell yes.

On a random note, having seen almost all Gundam series, Celestial Being's goals of eradicating war are somewhat laughable, considering 00's setting has to be the most peaceful Gundam setting in the entire franchise.
