Actually, the comedy aspects of the third season didnt overshadow the drama. Zedd and Rita were played as clowns so the viewer didnt see their more serious side coming until it happened.

I have to disagree, they were more comedy than serious

honestly serious villians didn't appear until astronema, now that was a villian, focused, calculating, with a human side

I dont think you read or understood my point. Zedd and Rita as bumblers was what threw the audience off for the fillers, when in the bigger episodes they were able to seize control of the Pink Power coin, Katherine, the Falconzord, and ultimatley were able to destroy both the power coins and the Command Center. That is far more than Astronema accomplished in one season besides gain a consciense and ultimately lead somebody else's army against the universe, picking up the scraps when Spectre was killed by Darkonda. Divatox also accomplished more than Astronema

Yes, cause DivaTox destroyed the new command center. That ep and the one before it were great.
