They should just rename the next OS to Windows Blue instead of calling it Windows 8 Blue...........if anything, just to disassociate itself from the failed experiment known as Windows 8
Its not failed, and two, its an update that is just 8.1, not a new OS.
If it failed, it was the hardware manufacturers, which like usual, are incompetent at making good hardware to take advantage of the OS and two, some of it blows. HP Compaq should just stop making anything to do with computers because they are literally the worst manufacturers out there, and then Samsung... no excuses either. Look at the Tai-Chi for instance.
To say it failed is an overstatement especially since it just came out, give it some time. Having a uniformed experience of an OS across all platforms is key but, added to lack of cooperation and a flimsy execution, the manufacturers aren't doing their job on the bargain. Them whining about Microsoft making their own products, I'd do the same when the others just don't have an idea though they themselves have played with the idea of tablets with the Android platform.
They will have to face it that anything they got as an alternative won't work, so if they turn Microsoft the wrong way, people will ditch the manufacturers and go to Microsoft since they own the majority of the market. Linux won't cut it before they make it easier to use and install programs on, and Chromebooks are the biggest jokes period [resorting to command line all the time is lame]. I could see a suped up Android system with a Desktop/laptop ui taking flight instead as its clearly the most usable of Linux, which is imo old hat. (Coming off of Mint being a useless and frustrating experience.)
None of the OEMs got the guts or initiative to really turn Android into a desktop experience on the official level, which is rather pathetic since it already has the chops.
