Mickey 17 (2025) 2 Clones Should Not Exist Together!

Interesting that this movie was inspired by a novel. I wonder how closely it follows the source material. I might have to check out the book "Mickey 7" before I see the movie. It's always fun to compare the two and see how the director interprets the story.

I love the idea of “Mickey 17” because it plays into the fantasy of living forever, but with an unexpected twist. Imagine getting to cheat death, but suddenly realizing that one version of yourself didn’t disappear like you thought. It could be a chance to explore what it would feel like to meet another version of yourself and what you’d do with that opportunity. Would you see your clone as a threat, or as an ally? It’s fascinating to think about. Plus, Robert Pattinson has been great in these unique roles, so I’m excited to see what he does with this one.

I’m wondering if they’ll bring a human touch to the storyline beyond just the clone dilemma. What if Mickey’s emotional connections from his past lives come back to haunt him? Meeting your own clone could be a metaphor for confronting your past decisions. Maybe the clone represents a part of Mickey that he can’t escape—whether it’s a failed relationship or a personal mistake. I’d love to see the movie dive into those deeper themes about love, regret, and second chances. It’d be so interesting if it weren’t just about the sci-fi elements but also about human relationships.

It reminds me me of the classic sci-fi stories where human identity is put to the test, like in "The Sixth Day" or "Total Recall." There’s always that existential question of whether a clone is truly you or just a copy. What sets "Mickey 17" apart, though, is Bong Joon Ho’s touch. He’s great at weaving in social commentary, so I bet this won’t just be a typical action-packed clone movie. I’m hoping for something that combines old-school sci-fi with modern storytelling. I’ve been waiting for a film like this to come along for a while.

What excites me about “Mickey 17” is the potential to showcase futuristic tech in a way that feels tangible and thought-provoking. Cloning technology is already a hot topic in bioethics, and this movie might touch on the implications of how far we can push technology before it starts to challenge our humanity. I hope they explore how society adapts to such tech—are clones viewed as disposable, or are they considered people in their own right? If handled well, the movie could give us a glimpse of what our world might look like in the not-so-distant future.
