The premise of “Mickey 17” feels like a modern twist on the age-old Ship of Theseus paradox. If each clone retains Mickey’s memories and personality, is the new Mickey still Mickey? Or are we watching the gradual degradation of the original identity? The twist, where two clones coexist, brings up fascinating ideas about the nature of self. It could dive into questions of individuality, self-worth, and existentialism. Bong Joon Ho has always been excellent at blending complex themes with gripping storytelling, so I’m curious to see how he handles these questions.
