[Comic] Marvel Talk Up Thread

As much as I have fun with Spider-Verse, this event is just terrible. All interesting ideas are just wasted, nothing really happenes for the majority of the event and we have to focus on freaking Spider-Woman and Silk, out of all people.
This event should be at least a year long. As for now, it almost over without even starting.

For me, the highlight of Spider-Verse was the nods to the newspaper strip and Tom DeFalco essentially retconning Slott's take on Mayday as being just an alternative version and not the "real" one from his iconic run with the character. Everything else has felt disjointed and repetitive, and just a little bit too depressing for the average Spider-Man story. Slott can be a great ideas man, but he's never been able to stick the landing on many of his big events.

The newspaper strip has been bloody brilliant lately, with a tighter focus on MJ, and Mysterio figuring out Peter's identity and being made more of a badass

If you read the new Spider-Woman book, then yeah, the focus is on them, but I would argue than Miguel, Kaine, and Otto have gotten even more spotlight than both Jessica and Cindy.

Also, IMO, the Amazing Spider-man book has done a great job balancing the 3 other books (SW, 2099, and Scarlet) that make-up Spider-verse, and between it and the lead in issues a ton of Spider heroes have gotten a chance to shine.

My only wish is that Miles had a bigger role, specially since his side of the story is by far the funniest, and that they had added the Spider-man form the 1994 cartoon.

EDIT: On semi-related news, IGN is reporting that Sony is allowing Marvel to add Spider-Man to their cinematic universe and they will be cooperating on a new Spider-Man movie project.

Yes, but when all of those books are better written and focused than the book containing the main story, there's a problem. Slott being the hack that he is remains the problem

The main story is being carried by the ASM book, not by the Spider-Verse book, which acts more as a compilation of short stories rather than the to drive the main plot. As far as I'm concerned, apart from spoiling one particular plot-point from one of the other 3 books, ASM has done a great job with the crossover.

It was more like some half-assed fanfic, than a proper crossover.
Penny didn't even got ONE line in all that mess.

God, ASM #14 was just terrible.
I hate Slott from the button of my heart.
It was impossble to get this event wrong, but Slott managed to do it. That's gonna be some record.
