and yet he keeps coming back. Lui Kang died and yet he comes back as a ZOMBIE. No one stays dead. Now they might stay dead in the literal story line version. But they always return in the video game.

Well, Vice and Mature haven't come back yet. Except for that one KoF game that isn't in canon(I can't remember which one...).

The Maximum Impact series are not canon, same goes for KoF Neowave, which is probably the one you are thinking of

I'm surprised continuity in the games is that big a deal. I never thought the appeal of fighting games was in their stories.

The diehard SNK fans care about continuity, they did get riled up when Falcoon attempted to make the Maximum Impact series part of the canon KoF continuity
