Looking for drama suggestions.

Watching Last Friends has amazed me at the level of quality and writing/ acting talent out there, so I'm looking for some more series to watch. Still pretty new to J-dramas- I've seen...
Sexy Voice and Robo (really enjoyed it, but not really looking for another otaku drama for the time being)
And Sh15uya (people seem confused as to whether it's tokusatsu or drama or both... But anyway, I loved it)

Currently watching Last Friends (as I said I love it) and Zettai Kareshi (It's... Good, cheese aside)

I'd like to see something fairly recent; mature, with good story and characterisation; good acting (actors/ actresses I might recognise would be cool too). Maybe something with action and/ or mystery elements. Must have english subs.

Really no idea... Any ideas?

Honey and Clover is one of those "mature" shows, it's got comedy but generally people seem to think it's a lot deeper (a tad bit slower) than most shows). That cheese factor is something you're going to find in most J-Drama, but there are a few that go without it. Watashitachi no Kyoukashou and 14 Sai no haha were really good in that respect.

If you like Last Friends, I would suggest Orange Days. It's a J-drama that you'll definitely fall in love with right away, and it has Eita (Takeru in Last Friends), even if it's just a supporting role.

But like Ryoutarou said, you should probably try Honey and Clover. It seems to fit your standards.

Other than that I'd advise you to do some research on your own. Go to d-addicts, peek around at threads, and see what you might like for yourself.

You must watch all of these:

Kurosagi, Proposal Daisakusen, Nobuta Wo Produce, Dragon Zakura, Hanazakari no Kimitachi e (Hana Kimi), 1 Pound Gospel, & yeah.... just try those. :anime:

I like doing this, just following certain actors in different shows, leads me to find other actors and so on.

None of those are anything like what he asked for though...

I'd recommend these:

- Bara no nai Hanaya (http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Bara_no_nai_Hanaya)
Has everything you asked for, good story, characters and mystery.
- Watashitachi no Kyokasho (http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Watashitachi_no_Kyokasho)
Same as Bara no nai hanaya
- Sora Kara Furu Ichioku no Hoshi (http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Sora_Kara_Furu_Ichioku_no_Hoshi)
same =P

There's obviously more but this should be good enough for now =P

That cheese factor is something you're going to find in most comedy J-Drama,
^^
