FF13 Lightning is the most rude Final Fantasy hero

Seriously she loves punching and slapping her team mates. She only gets a pass because she is a woman but is she is a man and she slaps Fang people would have seen this character as abusive. She is like only nice to Serah and Hope. To the rest she is very smug about them. Look Squall is kind of a snobbish loner but at least he softened and he doesnt hurt his team mates. She also pushes Sasz one of the nicest character who is older than her like he is her B****.

Squall is a bit of a jerk in Final Fantasy 8 but he is 10 times nicer than Lightning.

I am not saying turn her into a soft and pure maiden like Terra, What I mean is she should have been nicer to her team mates instead of treating them like dirt.

I like her myself and she is one of my favorite FF characters. It's true that Lightning is standoffish and not friendly towards her companions, at least in the beginning stages of the game, but I think there are deeper reasons as to why she acts that way that the story dosent outright specify.

You might have confused yourself with the Final Fantasy number or the main character name.

Anyway, I kind of agree. She belongs to the top list of Final Fantasy's rude main characters. Even at the start of the game, she only has her goal on her mind and wouldn't really care if she has companions with her to continue her tasks.

I admire Lightning, I believe she is great so far, nothing wrong with a bitterish character. You people forget, she is Cloud reincarnate and maybe because we have not seen FF7 in a PS3 cutscene we tend to disregard how much of a bummer Cloud was to Barrett and Avalanche in the first few hours of the game, arrogant, rude and tried to act bad-ass for the role.

Lightning is just as rude and loose and every time she is using that lightning ability to fly around I am aware that she deems she's a badass too, she probably is the best Final Fantasy lead character since Squall, Zack, and Cloud.

Tidus was the evilest hands down. He complained and PMS'd for what? 90% of the game? The only time he was great was when he and Yuna had their moment.

I think they wanted to create a character that had never been seen before in Final Fantasy, and that was Lightning with a athletic body and therefore not so feminine as well- and of course she has that cold personality to go along with that body. Lightning has a cold demeanor though, which kind of clashes with Snow's outspokeness also !

You are right, I absolutely agree with what you said. I still hate Tidus more though compared to Lightning, haha

My thoughts on Lightning may be a little biased, since I pretty much hated her after she smacked the living daylights out of Snow. Nevertheless, I generally didn't like her snobbish and aggressive mannerisms. As an individual, her character might have been cool but unleashing her mood swings on other characters did nothing to make her popular, if anything, only stained her already tarnished reputation. She starts of by slaying 100 people on a train then goes on to hit my best character, that put me in a bout of rage. Still does.

In Japanese trope, She is a Tsundere, A character who is hard in the outside but soft in the inside. She may be abusive and rude in the surface but deep inside she is a loving and caring sister. It is an acceptable trope in Japan. Yeah In western audiences though it can be seen as a jerk.

Imagine a male main character who beats up his team mates including the females. Yup there will be lots of controversy but Lightning is a woman so she gets a pass. She is able to getaway with it. Just imagine if you will switch the roles between her and Snow.

There was a social experiment on Youtube where there are actors where playing husband and wife in public. The woman is abusive and beats up her husband and the public doesn't care. Yup women seemed to get a pass if they are abusive. That is why it seemed acceptable that Lightning beats up her teammates.
