Final Fantasy V's job system is often overshadowed by the more popular titles in the series, but I rewatched my gameplay footage recently and it really struck me how revolutionary it was for RPG design. The sheer flexibility it offers is a game-changer; you can mix and match jobs to create unique strategies. Unlike the rigid class systems of earlier titles, FFV lets you explore virtually limitless combinations. I mean, who doesn't love turning Bartz into a Blue Mage that can also wield the powers of a Knight? It adds layers of strategy and creativity that felt groundbreaking, and honestly, still does.
Understanding how jobs interact with one another and mastering them feels incredibly rewarding. The possibilities are endless. With the release of new games like Octopath Traveler and even some mechanics in FF14, you can see how FFV paved the way for deeper customization in RPGs. And let's not forget the pure nostalgia of those job classes. I still have a soft spot for the Bard and how hilariously overpowered he can get with the right setup! Anyone else have thoughts on how FFV's job system has inspired modern games? Or, what's your favorite class to use in V?
