Okay, given recent events I just feel the need to get this off my chest.
So I had to go away for a few hours to help a friend catalogue his collection of Playboys (no foolin', that's really what I was doing), and I came back to see a couple of threads talking about me and how I've been locking threads. The strange thing is, I see people talking ABOUT me, and yet practically no one was actually trying to talk TO me about it.
The talk about me has been about how I seem to be locking a lot of threads. I'll be honest here, I won't hesitate to lock a thread if I think that it will hurt the forum in any way, such as the ones that tend to have discussions where it becomes "us vs TVN" or when people choose to "beat a dead horse" when it comes to certain issues. *cough* KingRanger *cough* There are times when things should be discussed and there are times when discussing this causes nothing but unnecessary grief for the forum and it's members. It's during those times that I lock threads, even when I've agreed with the discussion or not. Regardless of how I personally feel about the issue(s) being discussed (i.e. whether I may agree with them or not), if it looks like the discussion will cause more bad blood and or negative tension between individual members or between us and other groups, I will do what I feel is necessary for the good of the forum.
If anyone here starts up a thread and I lock it, to borrow and paraphrase the line that JC so often says, you can ALWAYS drop me a PM to discuss it. I've never proclaimed myself to be a mind reader and as such, if you feel that I've made a decision in haste you have to tell me. Decisions are NEVER final. I'm perfectly willing to unlock a thread if you can show/explain why you think that it legitimately should be unlocked. Communication is the best means to finding a compromise that both parties can agree on. It's like when I deal with a student in class who's not doing their work because they say they "don't know what to do". The answer is obvious...you ask. Calmly come forward and discuss it with me. It's not that hard.
