KR Ryuki - 13 Riders *spoilers*

I just finished watching the 13 Riders special, and, like everything else I've seen that's associated with Ryuki, it had a really confusing and open-ended ending. Shiro says that there were supposed to be 2 endings, but only 1 could be "chosen," and this was the one where instead of breaking the mirror which represented the source of the Mirror World, Shinji decides to fight the remaining riders by himself. Despite this, Shiro says at the end that in another installment, we'll learn if the decision made was the right one. So my questions are...

-Did the people vote on the ending?

-Does anyone know how the other ending went?

-In what other installment can we see the consequences of the chosen outcome? (I've already seen the TV show and the movie, but not yet Ryuki vs Agito)

-Did they ever show the other ending?

-Why in the heck is this show so confusing?! :shakefist

Here's the answer as far as I know, although honestly I've never seen this "Shiro telling audience to choose" myself:

ending 1 : Shinji takes up Knight and decides to use final vent on the spider monster, therefore deciding to fight the other remaining riders; the ending shows Shinji charging unto Tiger, with all the other riders ready at their final vents on Shinji. My personal interpretation for this ending is that Shinji chooses to fight and died.

ending 2 : Shinji takes up Knight and decides to just ram the spider with his bike, saving the final vent on "the core of the mirror world". After the detruction of the mirror world, life went as normal but then history repeats itself, Shinji somehow got invited again into the rider war. Ends with Shinji crying in the middle of a crowd in frustation.

Both are pretty depressing if you ask me XD My personal fave is actually the SIC hero saga ending (as translated by ewen):
After Knight and Ryuki remains as the two final riders, they fight until there's only one of them and Odin. It doesnt matter who wins and who lost the fight, The winner will hold the body of the loser and shouting to the sky, states their wish: to revive the person that he is holding in his hands. The winner then calls for Odin, and starts the final battle.

You can try and find the "other ending" < depends on which one you actually watched. on youtube. The original ending was the first one but they later released the second on dvd, but dont quote me on this one.

The show is confusing because all of its parts (TV, Movie, 13 riders) actually ties in together in a weird way, although it is only explained in Japanese magazines. As we see in the TV series, Shiro can reset history back to the time of the start of the war. The movie, tv special, and tv are actually three different timelines resulting from Shiro resetting the Rider war since it didnt turn out the way he would've liked. The TV ending is the "final" ending in the sense that at the end of it Shiro decides not to reset it anymore.

Another alternate ending is shown in 13 Riders the comic manga, which has Shinji fighting as Knight actually winning the war (so when there is a victor it's almost always Knight, hahahaha)

The open-endedness is actually one of the things I really liked about Ryuki.

I'm sure viewers in Japan voted on the outcome. Perhaps there were commercials beforehand, and people voted in...? I dunno for sure. As for why it's so confusing...well, it was in HK subs, lol. That probably adds on to it. ;P

I always thought that since it was a special DVD, you could choose which ending you wanted to see. But, whoever encoded the HK subs and posted them online only chose one. Guess I was wrong. I didnt know what happened in the second ending, but I like how it ties together. Ryuki was awesome like that.

I wouldn't mind if Ryuki or Knight died on the last episode...however, what annoyed me about the TV show (not the movie or special) is that....YOU DO NOT KILL OFF THE MAIN CHARACTER BEFORE THE SERIES ENDS!!! IT'S NOT TITLED KAMEN RIDER KNIGHT...IT'S KAMEN RIDER RYUKI!!! IF IT WAS TITLED KAMEN RIDER KNIGHT, THEN IT'S OKAY TO KILL OFF SHINJI EARLY!!! HELL, KILL HIM OFF MIDWAY THROUGH THE SERIES....if Ren and Shinji both die in the last episode, that's fine. But, Shinji dying before the series end. Hell, I wouldn't of mind if Shinji died "in" the last episode from his wounds, that's fine too. That ending was just as bad as Black Condor getting killed in Jetman! :shakefist

I think Ryuki is the most emo Kamen Rider story ever. Shinji dies in the TV series, and his fate is no better in the TV special. Even the Movie didn't show Knight and Ryuki winning the fight with the dragonfly monsters.

He is screwed (fate-wise, not the story).

Well in the 13 Riders comic he did win the war though... so it's not like he's always fully screwed XD;

And how is dieing most of the time emo? Shinji isn't emo 0-O; When he's in doubt he always go and find the answer instead of sulking and try to cut himself.

I think the movie ends simply with Shiro resetting time again, since there's no point to continue the war if Yui died already, and that the two best friends essentially chose not to go as Shiro said they should but defend humanity.

It's just titled Ryuki because they need a single title character imo. Knight is as much as a main character as Ryuki is, and could easily be more prominent than Ryuki if Kobayashi chose to do so.
