KAMEN RIDER WOLF
Prologue
The sky was dark, the air cold, and two lost hikers slowly walked down the leaf-covered trail. It was their fourth night being lost in the woods and they had no compass or map to guide them. The young men heard a rumbling noise from afar and paused.
“Hey, do you hear that?â€Â
“Yeah, I hear it!â€Â
“Water!†they both yelled and they ran towards the sound.
They reached the waterfall and didn’t hesitate to get a drink. One dunked his head into the water and drank like a madman while the other washed his face and neck. The water was cold, but they hadn’t realized it out of excitement.
“Forget this!†the man who drank said, “I’m going for a swim!†with that, he stripped down and took a dive into the lake. It was then that he realized that the water was freezing cold. “This feels great! Hey, Hyodou! Come on in!â€Â
“I think I’ll pass, I’m going to use the bushes.†He said.
“Ok.†And he dove to the bottom.
Hyodou dropped his heavy bag onto the ground and proceeded towards the bushes. He took a big sigh and stretched out his back before unzipping his pants. He crouched down, only to realize he hadn’t brought the toilet paper.
“Dammit,†he whispered and looked around, “Guess I’ll have to use the leaves.â€Â
He lifted his head and stared at the night sky. It was a full moon and he thought of the warnings the townspeople had given him and his friend. Then he heard a howl of a wolf from a distance and that got his adrenaline pumping. He’d never encountered a forest animal before, not even a raccoon.
Hyodou heard a loud splash and thought, Yuuta must be having fun.
Then there was another howl, but this time it was closer, louder, and sounded almost like a yell. It was short and fierce, but Hyodou kept his calm. He told himself everything was going to be alright.
“Hey, Hyodou! Did you hear that?â€Â
“Yeah, but don’t worry. We’re fine.â€Â
“Let’s see if it responds to my howl.†Yuuta splashed the water around him and with all his breath, he yelled out a loud howl.
It was silent, and the chirping of the crickets stopped.
“Aw, you scared him away, Yuuta.†Hyodou said with sarcasm.
“Probably.†And he continued swimming.
Well, my business is done . He grabbed the biggest leaves he could find around him and wiped with discomfort. After a few wipes, he got up, pulled up his pants, and stretched out his back.
He heard a loud splash.
You and your cannonballs, Yuuta, he said to himself.
“Hey Yuuta, make some room, I’m going in for a swim!†he yelled out, walking passed the trees.
There was no response.
“Yuuta?†he called out.
Still, there was no response.
Hyodou took off his clothes and jumped in the water and did a few butterfly strokes. Then he called out Yuuta’s name one more time but the third time, there was no response. He began to worry and so he decided to swim all around the lake to look for Yuuta.
A body facing down floated by Hyodou, and he felt an arm. He turned around with a smile and gave Yuuta a push.
“Hey man, real funny.†He chuckled.
The body slowly drifted away, still face down and Hyodou stood there, watching.
“You can’t hold your breath for that long, hurry up and lift up your head.â€Â
But the body kept on drifting further away on to shore. Hyodou rolled his eyes and swam after him.
Hyodou lifted Yuuta’s head out of the water, “Hey, man I said-“
Gone.
Yuuta’s face was gone.
Hyodou turned around and vomited into the water.
The rest of Yuuta’s body was filipped over, revealing the inside of his body. All organs were missing and most of the flesh was eaten. It was horrifying. Hyodou was on the ground now, still vomiting.
He turned away from what was once Yuuta and elled out, “Help!â€Â
He saw a figure in the woods, and it was breathing heavily. The creature was hairy, and was standing on two feet, it’s eyes glowed in the darkness. The werewolf quickly leaped to his prey before it could say anything.
There was a full moon, the sky dark, the air cold, and the sound of the waterfall was soothing.
