KR Blade Trials. Pics and/or production art.

While I'm pretty much on record as hating card-gimmicks in Rider shows, there are some things in Ryuki and Blade that I actually liked. It happens with me and tokusatsu sometimes. I'll just not like a show overall but there'll be this thing or that thing that'll stand out to me or some aspect storywise or visually that I'll like even if I don't like the way the show executed that idea. With Blade, one of those stand-outs was the designs for the Trials. They had for lack of a better term a industrial look to them that really worked.

I'm a bit of a picture hound, so I'm floating a request for any real good photos or if anyone has design art for any of the Trial monsters to post it here.

Thank you in advance.

I loved the Trials too, although I still want to know where A & C are. Chillin' in Tahiti? :laugh:

I'll see about scanning in the pics from the "Green Blood" book when I get home later today

You may already have it, but ...

UNDEAD Green Blood is a book of Nirasawa Yasushi's designs for the Undead in Blade. I don't have ther book personally, so unfortuantely I can't say if it has artwork of the Trails.

EDIT: D'oh! Sounds like Iga may have beat me to the punch.

I was kinda wondering that myself. The only thing I can think of is maybe they were left out with the implication being that A&C were duds somehow since the Trials are kind of a work in progress hence the name. Maybe they both stepped out of that refigerator in the lab and melted or something.

Or like you say, they're chillin on the beach. They're probably running a margarita stand, wearing Hawaiian shirts, hitting on rich divorcees and listening to lots of Jimmy Buffet. :laugh:

I appreciate those scans, that'd be most awesome of you.

Thank you as well, KR Caucasus.

No, they're in Mo'orea, Tahiti is where the Kamen Riders hang out. Those drinks don't mix

Any self-respecting Rider villain is always looking for trouble though. :P

Anyway, on with the pics!

Trial D

Trial E

Trial F

Trial G

Trial B

Alternate design for Trial D

Some interesting points:

-Trial D's original name is "Undeadloid" (It's supposed to be "Undeadroid.")

-Trial B's design was at one point called "Trial G".

-Trial F's basic costume structure is adapted from the Mole Undead's, while Trial G's is adapted from Trial D's. This is nothing new, it happens with most of the newer Kamen Rider monsters, especially with the Orphenochs, but I think the Undead are better at hiding it than most.

-The letters actually stand for something!

D = "Damned"
E = "Evolution"
F = "Fake"
G = "Ghost" (it was going to be "General" when Trial B was still Trial G.)
B = "Bane"

Trial A & Trial C, had they been in the show, were supposed to be "Awesome" and "Crazyassmofo" respectively. Well okay, I made that part up, but the other letter meanings are all true.

-Trial E's stun baton thingy is supposed to reference the Faiz Edge. Trial E himself is meant to evoke Shadow Moon (hey, this is what the designer said, don't question me!)

-Trial F, with his orange/yellow boots & gloves, it intentionally a nod to the Shocker Riders & Fake Skyrider.

-Trial G is meant to look like the Leader of Black Satan from Kamen Rider Stronger, with his purple color scheme and white skull-like face. Also, I don't think we saw it in the show, but his belt was supposed to split open when he was defeated to show a spider, which is a double nod to how he is patterned after Mutsuki's DNA and to the Satan Bug (which the Black Satan Leader turned into.)

-Trial B is a nod to the Leader of Shocker/Gelshocker with that white, red-line-covered cycloptic face (with green eye) and the snakes on one of his arms (referencing the "Medusa" mask.)

is it just me, or does anyone else feel like those designs were wasted on Blade? the designs are really good, but something just doesnt click for me.
