I'm going to have to disagree slightly with you here. What is the difference between a boy dressing up as a superhero, to yes copy what he saw on tv, but the same meaning as his heros when they fight monsters, to a man or woman just taking a bullet. Does the nativity of a child make it some sort of a psychological problem, while the adult get hailed as a brave hero? Maybe I'm not the best judge of this cause I only have a sister five years younger than myself, but I don't see the problem of calling the kid a hero. And maybe while he didn't know the danger he put himself in, I'm sure somehow he was aware of the danger his sister was in. I know four year olds arn't the most experinced humans alive, and while the Tiger situation Mika posted was a good example of such, I also can't believe that a four year old couldn't get the sense of danger to his loved one, especially when a strange man had his sister held up by a weapon and the general sense of distress from his family. Naive they are, but they aren't entirely stupid to those around them.

Yes, he got lucky, but is it not the same for all people who act up in defense of another in a situation like this. People do foolish things in a case like this all the time, but there bravery and reasons for doing something for their family is never foolish.
 
Its a cool story simply because it ended well. Had this ended in blood, this would have just been a nail in the coffin for PR and TV.

I understand where Mika is coming from. We all do. But Mika is being held back by her maternal instincts. She can enjoy this article because she knows how the family must've felt seeing the child run in trying to be a hero. And that's fine.

But it ended well, and now's not the time to criticize the child anymore. If you want the kid to know fantasy from fake, tell him. Teach him to discern the difference. Dont let him watch TV and figure it out himself. He doesnt know better. Say "this is fantasy, fake". That's what the family is probably doing for their 4-year old now. Letting him know that he really didnt morph. But the fact that it ended well, it shouldnt be something to punish the kid over. He tried to be a hero to save his family.

He may not have understood the danger -he- was in, but he understood the danger his family was in and tried to help. That's the difference here. Since this event ended so well, imagine if he grows up with these same morals. Maybe when his GF or loved ones are in trouble again, he will do the same thing and try to save them (without the PR mask this time). This experience might have a positive impact on his psyche that teaches him to be courages and do the right thing. Where as if it ended badly it could have taught him "just be a coward and do as you're told and everything will be fine", which isnt always the case.

Now here's something for you to ponder Mika, and everyone.

What if the kid HADNT done anything. What if? Would the family still be safe? You could say "sure" but you dont know that. What if they just killed off the family to eliminate witnesses or killed off a member because they were baked and didnt give a **** about making noise. They ran off because they were high and got freaked out. What if they hadnt got freaked out and ran... maybe it could have ended worse.
 

Actually, I'm not citicizing the child at all, just those who think what the boy did was so cool or kick ass. It's the behavior of some adults and teenagers here that preplexes me which is why I think it's foolish for people to say things like he was brave or he knew what he was doing or that they would follow the kid into hell.

What if he kid did nothing? Most likely the robbers would run off after getting what they wanted. Would they have killed the family? Maybe, maybe not. They didn't shoot the kid when he defended his family, so what makes you think that they might have killed the family if the kid didn't change his clothes? What makes us think that they were freaked out by the kid's costume? All we have is the kid's word on that (he scared them away) and how the media decided to play that up. For all we really know, they got what they wanted, saw the kid come out in his clothes and start acting up then decided they got what they wanted and left.

Read the article and you will see that an uncle, who were not there to witness the robbery, was the one saying the robber was "tripped out" by the boy in his costume. "It tripped him out, and that's when they moved on," said Evans, who did not witness the incident. {snip} But Evans said the robber was more startled that Stevie was able to retreat to his bedroom and morph. The man didn't witness anything so how would he know the robber was startled or tripped out by the kid in the costume?

It was a good thing that the kid wasn't killed and that's the bottom line right there.
 
How much money did the family lose? I think it would be a cool gesture if we as Hero Show fans pooled some money together to get this kid some kickass MYSTIC FORCE toys for Christmas!!! What do you guys think? Not because of him standing up to the robbers, but just so that we can help make his holidays that much more special. I mean, think what it would mean to a kid that young to get a bunch of POWER RANGERS toys from people who he has never met!!! I dunno. Just a thought. Discuss amongst yourselves.
 
We should get together with members from other boards to raise money for the little boy's home.


I'm quiet sure some of you guys are LOADED with cash.
