KickHopper Girl = Badass

Since Kabuto its been time travel and/or incest.:sly:

At least it worked for Kabuto and Den-O.

Kabuto knew what not to answer because the topics it chose were still very theoretical, and Den-O stayed true with being the "sci-fi time-travel comedy show"... But Kiva? It was totally out of nowhere... I mean, I appreciate that they wanted Otoya and Wataru to meet... But they really could have established that earlier than pull up a "Castle Doran has time-travel abilities" on the last second. :redface2:

Man... Totally out of topic... :shakefist

The show had been out of topic since the second episode anyways. I mean, look at Kiva, doesn't really scream a vampire but just an average bat motif. Meh. I don't know about anyone else, but the way people die from fangire sucking their blood really seems...lame? Given the theme vampires, the show could had took a slightly more mysterious turn and have Otoya survive as a fangire or something just for a final battle and then die the hero...anyhow, can't say I'm a fan of Kiva XD. I didn't liked the button-fetish dude at all either, and he just lost me after he became the goofball.

I was actually talking about the thread... But yeah, Kiva could have been way better if it sticked to its theme... Though I remember somebody saying that in Sentai, the writer's prioritize the character first, then the theme, then everything else. Forgot who said it though.

If the dude's favorite Rider show is Kiva, then honestly, he might not like W. Competent plotting and complete character arcs might just come off as boring after Kiva's hyperactive idea barrage.

Oh yeah, because Kiva's character development, plot concept, designs, music, and fight scenes were so bad. :sly: Hell, Kiva has by far the best opening theme for Kamen Rider ever. EVER!!

Seriously though, I find Kiva to be the best Kamen Rider series because of the things I mentioned above. For the characters, they had some of the best development I have seen since Mutsuki in Blade. Wataru started out as this shy boy who wanted to avoid everyone as much as possible and grew into a man who would do what was necessary to save the world and everyone he knew and loved. It was not just Wataru as well though, as every character in the series grew up, which gave it a different flavor from the other series. The monster concept was unique and well done. Not to mention the switch back between the 80s and 00s really gave the show a nice edge. It kept it interesting because you knew something major had to happen in the 80s that caused things to be the way they are, but there was no way of knowing what, and when it did, it came off with incredible unexpected moments. The battle scenes were well done, fast paced, kept you in the action and wanting more. If there is anything I can say that I did not like about it, it is the lack of night battles. The designs themselves were incredible, especially Maya's design and Dark Kiva has to be the best KR design ever. Megumi, while at times an idiot, was able to hold her own, as could her mother Yuri. I even grew to like Nago, and I kept hoping he would die until the last few episodes of the series when he really showed that he was not a dick. The musical aspect of the series with the violin was a highlight for me, as I have not seen a violin used in a show for a long time, if at all. It brought a nice touch, and I loved one of the musical pieces played on the violen that I wish was on the soundtrack. Otoya was an interesting and tragic character. Lastly, the series had an ending that was complete. It did not leave off on this crapshoot with 3 of the main villians still alive. It completed its story, and built up a future that was going to be good, but would never be truly peaceful (true peace is impossible).

The problem I have with the whole era-switching was that it made it seem the guys from the 80's wasn't able to solve the problem and had to leave it up for Wataru and company to finish. Yes I know that Otoya and company probably didn't have the firepower to defeat the bad guys at their time, but it took the bad guys 20 years to fight back? :sly:

The monsters were so bulky for me.

The fight scenes were tad irritating for me because of the constant clanking of the chains which were a bit too much, not to mention the tone was a bit high since they probably used thin chain links to make the sound instead of the heavier chains which makes better-creepier sounds.

Dark Kiva for me as good as it looked, is just a repainted and retooled Kiva Emperor.

The only saving grace for me was Otoya.

But Kengo and the whole time-travel arc really sank the ship for me...

Why are we even talking about Kiva in a thread for Hopper Dopant? :shakefist:

Agreed. Personally I hate shy boys at all as my main antagonist and the show would have been substantially less satisfying had it not had my boy Otoya in it.

It was pretty good, but W..... It's just more solid on all accounts and its stories continually feel fresh.

Kiva I feel storylines would suddenly come up because they needed something else to do. W on the whole feels far more cohesive, always moving forward and continually fresh.

Definitely, W made everything seem logical, the forms used, the characters, the gadgets... Everything had a purpose rather than 1 episode plugs for merchandising purposes only.
