Kick Hopper vs. Tiger Wong Mini MV

He was doubled for some of the faster/jumpier/combo kicks, but yeah for the most part he did a lot of his own fights. He practiced something like 4 different styles for 2 months in preparation for this role.
Thought it was Donnie Yen at first, I've only seen stills from the movie and they both looked really alike in it. Does Tse do more martial arts stuff? I mainly know him through his music but he looked really good in your video, which was pretty good.

Lately Tse has started being groomed for becoming "the next big Hong Kong action star," working with guys like Jackie Chan, Tsui Hark, and Donnie Yen, and he seems to be really taking the action film business seriously. He put off like two smaller tours to shoot this and the new adaptation of The Prodigal Son. If you compare his work in movies like Gen-X Cops to Dragon Tiger Gate, the difference is extraordinary. He definitely is a fast learner.

I've seen Gen-X, his stuff seemed okay there. How many years after that did he do DTG? And, what four styles did he practice to actually be able to do what he did? It's nice to see that he's actually serious about it, he seems to have a great on screen presence.

Well let's see, Gen-X Cops was '99, and Dragon Tiger Gate came out this year, which means he's had rougly 6-7 years of evolution there, doing other action projects like A Man Called Hero, Time and Tide, My Schoolmate The Barbarian, New Police Story, etc.
And I believe the styles he practiced were Muay Thai, Taekwondo, Northern Shaolin kung fu and Changquan, but I'm sure there were more, and I'm also sure he picked up a lot from Donnie and the other stunt veterans on set.

Tse is actually one of my favorites of the "pop star action hero" generation. He's a really good actor, learns quickly and takes it seriously, and his hair is always perfect. Damn that hair.

Heh, this makes imagine Nine Continents, Wong Mo Gei, Iron Marshall, Tian Wen, and Kuo Yung with Zectors.

Heh, maybe the Hopper Zectors could go to Samson and Devilitto.

Reason I'm quoting myself here is because it occured to me that people prolly have no idea what the hell I'm talking about.

See, I was first introduced to Tiger Wong via his comics incarnation when Chinese comics were brought over here in the 80's under the Jademan banner. Tiger Wong, Gold Dragon, and the buddhist Gai were three heroes who battled Global Cult and Chan Ou Wan. This series was called "Oriental Heroes" over here. If I'm not mistaken, the movie that clip is from is based on a story that takes place earlier when Tiger and Dragon were running with Tigers younger brother (the one with the hair-swoosh down his face).

So the other characters I mentioned are also from the same line of comics. Nine Continents is from Force of Buddhas Palm which is the name of the marital arts that he mastered. Samsun and Devilitto are twin brothers who were the sons of Nine's best friend.

Wong Mo Gei is from Drunken Fist who battled The Invincible Swordsman.

Iron Marshall is sort of a wuxia Kenshiro from artist Khoo Lung who also did SolarLord and the Ultraman Tiga comic. (Or Manhua to be more precise.)

Tian Wen is from the more recent line of comics from the same publisher as the Jademan line. He was the protag in Weapons of the Gods. I also read Saint Legend, the Legendary Couple, and CTHD from this line.

God i hope not, Nicholas Tse is a fucking terrible actor can't speak cantonese to save his life. I have no idea why you would think he is a good actor most people generally hate him.

I'm not most people, and when you consider some of his competition (Edison Chen? Stephen Fung? Daniel Wu? Andy On?), he's lightyears ahead in terms of acting and he's still fairly new to the game, so go easy on him.
