how bout the HK version?:169: you're lucky if u find a site or store that sells it though. i've searched most places that sell HK dvds (mostly anime sites) but i was not fortunate so i gave up and bought meself the gen.kikaida version.

I find so much irony in you promoting the HK yet have a huge ass sig that promotes the R1.

I support this company and anyone who puts out R1 toku......but man they did not mess around when it came to the price of these discs! They were expensive and will always be expensive. Save your pennies because they are top quality. Just realize that top quality always comes at a price. Here it just happens to clock in at about $40 bucks a volume.

And guys seriously lighten up on mandaraya's comment. Maybe he was joking. I just laugh when I read people are horrified if someone suggests buying a HK disc. I bet many of those same horrified people have no problem downloading episodes. That's fucking stealing!! Enough said on that.

Downloading shows that have no legit R1 release is different than bootlegging R1 legit releases. I am against HK's but to each their own. If how ever you download, put up for download, or buy HK's of shows with legit R1 releases... Then IMO you are nothing more than a scummy leech.

Personally, I prefer R2 releases, but that's just me. My only advice is to buy the Japanese releases of V3. I have no idea about where the R1 releases is sold, minus the site you gave.

Man no offense but that's just as nuts as telling some one to buy HK's. WE WANT R1's of Toku. If people go out and buy the R2's 1. no subs and 2. the companies releasing R1's will stop. While I personally could care less about the subs, I WANT R1 releases of toku.

The thing about the R2s though, at least with V3, is it's still going to be much more expensive than the R1 set. If the price of the R1 release is too steep for you, I wouldn't even suggest looking into the R2 releases. The re-released discs of V3 were, at retail, about 3990 Yen each, and there's 9 of them, so combined they're over double what the R1 set costs, and that's before you factor overseas shipping in. And the re-released versions are no-frills, no-extras, just the episodes.

The original box set went for even more, and while you can still get it used (as I did) it's still going for almost triple what the R1 set is. At first print it was something like, $500 US at least.

Don't get me wrong, I like the R2 releases myself, and seeing as how I am where I am, I buy them frequently out of convenience as much as anything else. I actually prefer them to downloading or bootlegs or any cheaper means because I am a crazy bastard like that. But the truth is the R1 set really is a steal compared to any of the V3 releases over here. If you can't play Region 1 or don't need/care about English subtitles (or English anything) there's probably another option, but as far as legit releases, it's the cheapest one I know of.

That's only because Toei charged them so much for the license to those titles — they're a small business, not a philanthropic enterprise, so that price is reflected in the MSRP. That's why you don't see any other bigger labels picking up Toei series — because they are pricey (thanks to the worldwide success of PR, Toei is asking for a lot more money for their toku titles).

They were expensive and will always be expensive.

You must have missed their "2-for-1 Sale" last Fall... As I said in an earlier post, a few friends (and others I heard), were able to pick up KAMEN RIDER V3 and KIKAIDA 01 both for $160. Plus, the Generation Kikaida online store already has discounts on several bundles and packages available for the DVDs of the original KIKAIDA.

Believe me I understand the cost involved. It's a risk but if done right can be a very successful venture. Now this is an assumption on my part but I would assume most users of this site are younger. They are most likely just starting out career wise. Perhaps they still are in school and work a part time job. So $40 bucks is steep for a Dvd. It was a statement of perceived fact not an attack on Generation Kikaider and their parent company.
Believe me if I had the money to try and secure the rights for some of these shows I would. I however can't take that risk right now. Perhaps in the future. You totally ruined my day by mentioning that sale! Yes I did miss it and I paid full price for those discs.
