the truth is far too complicated, which is why most of us dont dwell into it.
but here's my attempt to sum things up

But by telling a story that was not meant to be a story only meant that that story that was not a story is still not a story. But to all of us, telling a story about something not being a story is not a story to begin with. Therefore, there was no story
