Introduction
You get a nice animated version of the opening from the TV series. Although it would seem they didn't buy any of the characters IPs so all the out of costume shots are cut, apart from Tendou's where it doesn't show his face.
Review
Gameplay
It's basically a beat up in a square shaped area. You can have to around 8 different people fighting onscreen at a time, which is usually the Worms or Zect Troopers. You have two different buttons to attack with, another pressing square and x and a grab using x and circle. There's a little squence at the start showing the characters interacting and then starts the battle. The gameplay is suprisingly good for a game of this sort. The controls can sometimes be a little sluggish and hard to work out what your combo is doing. You must fill up your temporary bar to "Cast Off" then again to "Clock Up". It is very nice to beat your opponent defenceless and watch them slowly fly through the air. You'd think this makes it a one sided battle, but if your opponent "Clocks Up" before you do and you don't have enough energy to do it aswell, you can lose the fight quickly.
Graphics
It looks pretty accurate to the series and nothing really looks out of place. "Clock Up" looks brilliant, exactly how it is in the series. The moves are perfectly re-created too.
Game Modes
Story Mode-
You play as Kabuto, playing the story of the TV series and also God Speed Love for certain sections. Once you complete it with Kabuto, you can then play the story with everyone except Kabuto with every new round you play a new character. Then, you play as the Worms(get them to Molt quickly or they'll die with only a few hits)
1st Player 1 Mode-
You can pick all the playable characters to fight another.
2nd Player 1 Mode-
Play with a friend in a co-op battle against a number of enemies.
1st 2P Mode-
Player 1 Verus Player 2.
2nd 2P Mode-
You can pick an ally to fight against the other Player.
?????-
Yeah, I'm not fair enough to know what this mode is
Options-
Er.. yeah.
Conclusion
I knew this wasn't going to be a hit, I really did expect it to be crap so I was pleasantly suprised. There are some issues with the controls like putting the character you needed to fight, but running in the wrong direction. There are a few game modes to play through, but they don't last very long.
All the riders from the show and movie are avaiable, along with 5 different types of Worms. Kick Hopper is very cool
If you really are a die-hard fan, be warned, it's not really worth the money but I doubt this review is going to stop you. Let me know if you unlock anything special
