Wait, with only one episode left, are we going to find out anymore about Gentaro's past? In that one episode (27 I think) we find out his parents worked on something important and are the reason why he goes around friending everyone. Are we gonna get any sort of resolution for that, or was it dropped?

Well, it won't be dropped since it's not really a subplot. But, yes that might end up being everything. They weren't working in anything plot relevant, just had a normal job that forced them to move often to give some context to Gentaro's atittude.

based on the story of kengo's past..

During the explosion,rabbit hutch didn't destroyed completely because protected by core switch/core child,Rokuro survived then he continue his research on fourze until emoto/virgo retrieved kengo from moon..
looks like they didn't mention how Rokuro died..or i missed something throughout the episodes..

why didn't Emoto bring Rokuro back to Earth?yeah obviously i think Rokuro refused because he want to continue his research..but i'm pretty sure Emoto can always play a visit to rabbit hutch anytime he want.

is Rokuro still alive??no one can answer..again obviously..well just sayin

Did u notice that Rokuro was holding the Core Switch during the explosion??
plus before the attack,Kengo was already born..probably Kengo saved Rokuro during that explosion..After that,Emoto change his mind,turned good,he retrieved Kengo..but who know maybe Emoto bring Rokuro back to Earth then keep the secret..

Final scene filmed was a classroom scene.

I don't think there is an accurate translation of 'Uchu Kitaii!'. TV-Nihon started with 'Space is Awesome!' before deciding it was best to leave it as 'Space Kitaii!', while Over-Time went with the far less accurate 'It's Space Time!'.

Anyway, for those that haven't seen them, here's the farewell bouquets and the inevitable tears that followed (also, props to Takahashi Ryuuki for turning up to the filming of the scene despite the fact he didn't appear in it... looks like that set was a fun place to work):

Or maybe they're not as weak-willed or as overly-emotional as the W and OOO cast. Remember, they're actors. They can't stay in the same cast forever. At some point, they have to move on to other shows.
